      Just for all parents' info:

There are 35 vacancies for P1 under the YMCA after-school care at SMPS next year. Currently there are 30 places left. We decided to register our dd as we were advised to not wait till orientation day because the trend has always been that it will have very few vacancies left by then.
      thanks for the headsup, goldpiggy.
could you share what activities the after-school care provides to keep the girls occupied?

            Hi! Ryes,

Don't worry. You can put ur DD on the school waitlist and apply for another school in phase 2cs.

Sorry to hear about your situation ryes... I must say the atmosphere was really tense and I do feel for the 16 girls who didn't make it. I hope you've put her on waitlist and in the meantime have a plan b for next phase...

Just need to gripe about a certain teacher. She organised a dance for today's ND concert and has been getting the girls to practice for weeks. This is fine, but what annoys me is that first, she said my DD needs to wear orange top and blue or brown bottom. Bottom we have, so we rush out and scrounge around a few shops before finding an orange top.

Then last week, the teacher says my DD has to white top and white or black bottom instead. Top we have, so we rush out again to shop. Managed to find white bottom, the last one in the shop!

Then on Monday -- day of full dress rehearsal -- another teacher says the group looks too colourful (girls supposed to wear mix of colours like blue, orange, pink, etc), so the teacher tells all girls to wear red top and white bottom. She doesn't even say this on Monday, but only says yesterday. And today is the actual day!

Wah! Panic last night looking for red top. Found one, but not quite red. Told DD can't be helped.

This is not the first time the teacher has acted so last-minute. I have given her feedback before, but she just pushed the blame to others and say she can't help it, it's not her fault.

Not easy being a fulltime employee plus mom and having to contend with last-minute actions by teacher. I told the teacher this but she just doesn't listen -- or worse don't care. I understand teachers are busy and have personal lives too, so why don't some of them show consideration for parents who are in the same boat as them!
                :frustrated: :stupid: :imdrowning:

:snuggles: I can understand your frustration... I would chalk it down as one of the many nonsense we have to deal with in life and move on...

                      Hi ylkoon,

This is roughly what the girls will be occupied with:

•Basic Care - meals, bath and rest
                      •Supervised study
                      •Character building activities
                      •Fitness sessions
                      •Enrichment activities

You can collect the detailed programme from them directly at the school as well as the fees structure.

Looking forward to meeting everyone at Orientation 😄
