      Hi

Did any of your DS/DD finish new syllabus listening comprehension (SA1)? Or any practice given in your school? My DD said something like they gave multiple choices and need to choose one from the choices given and no dictation in new syllabus. She sounded not very sure like that? If you have some idea about teh new syllabus listening comprehension, kindly share. Thank you in advance.

        Hi

Just curious to know whether MCQ comprehension is removed in the new syllabus English.

        Thank you in advance.

My DD also told me that there will not be vocabulary cloze. Of course, compre cloze stays alive.

New OE compre seems to be easy (my Dd’s school did only 3 so far). May be they will increase the difficulty level slowly. I also noticed that the passages are short. Ours is a neighbourhood school. What about other schools? Do you feel the new OE compre is easy?

          TIA

OMG seriously no vocab cloze? and no MCQ in compre also?

            what else is being removed?

But I didn’t hear any such things from DD school. She is still in P3, so may be the new syllabus changes will be more visible in coming year.

Till now the composition and other exam portion still following the old format in her school…

Huh? There definitely will be a change in composition. How is it that the examination format for composition has not changed?

In my DD school, they follow the new syllabus for Oral during the SA1, however for compo it was the old format. But now in their class they are doing the new format for the compo.

Looks like during the SA2 they will be tested with the new format for compo.

Ya, my DD’s school also followed old syllabus compo for SA1 and new syllabus for oral. After the June holidays, they zoom into new syllabus.

Looks like some school are following and others are not, hopefully by the year 2015 they will be able to tackle it for PSLE. :xedfingers:

We were told that only three pictures will be given instead of 3 pictures + 1 question mark (old format). And there will not be any choices like last time (we can choose between picture compo and continuous writing in the old format)

listening comprehension - no more dictation (I find it good:)

Instead they will do picture sequencing (write 1, 2, 3 and 4 in the boxes given after listening to a CD)

Picture discussion is changed to stimulus based conversation (It is almost like oral conversation in the old format; eg: Have you been to zoo? Share your experience; Which animal will you choose as a pet to give it to your friend as a birthday gift and why?)

My DD also mentioned 2 compre OE instead of one MCQ and one OE compre - cannot be right? I think she may be wrong. I update you after our English test.

My DD knows only the above changes at the moment as we did not really see the model papers.

                        Hope this helps!
