DDs prelims begin on 27th!! September school holiday extra classes for 3 days! Good idea to send for extra classes or just let her stay at home and do own revision?
my dd's is for 2 days in sep hols. i'll be sending her for sure. guess it'd depend on what your dd's teachers will be doing. for mine, revision. i thought it may be useful and a change in surroundings may be refreshing from mugging at home. jmo.

I can't afford to wait till she goes to upper primary to know she is having this problem...once I know what is the problem, we can then work on how best to help.

Don't suppose the extra classes during the school holidays will take up the whole day, so just go for it. My DD has two days. So far, if we tell her not to go for certain lessons (even during regular after-school days ) she might protest, cos she said she may miss certain important information shared with the others and that she will be losing out. -

DS also has extra classes for 3 days during the September school holidays. Haiz... actually that boy didn't tell me about it until I saw your post and asked him :faint:
I prefer him to go to school because he will guai guai finish the school homework fast. For my homework, he will slowly slowly do it :faint: -
mummy so kiasu:
she just cannot remember anything...but the prob is not just on chinese.
Hi Janet, Maybe you could get feedback from her teachers. If necessary, go for the assessment. She will be exempted from Chinese if she is dyslexic. My P2 girl is vey active & unfocus. Somrtime I wonder whether she is ADHD. I even brought her for assessment when she was in K2. She is struggling with her Chineze too. Especially hanyu pinyin.
if she is not able to relate mentally for eg pic discussion, she just 'switches off'. i met up with all her teachers with the principal last month.
her form teacher told me the school counsellor will call me tomorrow regarding arranging an appt with the child psychologist.
oh yes she hates hanyu pinyin too. -
Ah boy has not heard any confirmed dates for Sept. only knows he wants to celebrate his bd :rotflmao:

Worry? DD was failing at your DD's age. Failing as in the marked in red ink type. So definitely something wrong somewhere. Of course, it would have helped if she had a better teacher then. But getting a good teacher is like wishing you had a good slip in a fortune cookie. She was unable to grasp that much from school then so I really had my work cut out for me. I spent my quiet nights planning lessons as to how I think she can learn better. I cannot expect a lackadaisical teacher (then at P3) to properly teach a group of 40+ of regular students, so what more just one like my DD who was slower? Not all teachers are blessed with the skills like time management, or managing a class effortlessly or even working with children with varied multiple-intelligences and learning styles. So because i realize my DD was not able to learn how she was taught, I chose to teach how she can learn. That's why my advice to you is the earliest intervention for your DD and never give up on her even when the road seems tough. If one way doesn't work, there are and will always be other ways. :hugs:Sorry to hog this thread with a topic that is out.
The Orals last week made me worry if my daughter can even survive mainstream education.
Buds,
Did you worry if your daughter can manage/cope with daily demands of school? I pity my daughter because life is so mundane with homework everyday and she is somewhat in a world of her own.
Her processing ability is so different from my son. Even though I coach her with whatever I can...not have expectations, I still worry how she can stay in the mainstream and whether she needs to repeat p3 or whatever. -
buds u are so right getting a good teacher is nt easy thankful ah boy teahcer has been so surpportive throughout the yrs as for dd i really got to thank her teacher this yr who took in what i said and yes shes definetly dropping chinese i told hubby already.

i know prelims are round the corner…don’t stress the kids out…take it as a form of revision.
