[Bedok] Primary Schools

Hi , I am new to this website. I am currently staying in Bedok and is considering the following school :


1) Red swastika (within 1km)

2) temasek primary ( 1-2km)

I would like to be a PV. Any suggestion on which school ?

Really v stressful after reading all the feedback on these ‘hot’ schools .

Help needed on : which school is better ? Which school is tougher to get in ? If I become a PV , what are my chances in getting a place in the school ?

Cannot comment on which sch is better as mine will only be enrolled next year

If u want, u can apply to be a Pv to both schools. Cos some of the schools will still ask u to go for interviews. See how u can contribute to the school. ( but that’s what I heard only)
As of this year, temasek has more vacancies than red under phase 2c
However there are much more ppl vying for Temasek.
So it depends if u want to calculate by ratio or just depends on the vacancies

both the sch you eyeing are hot...so do have a backup sch in case you can't get in.

as for PV... which year your child is going to register in? 2014 all closed... for 2015 some are still opened...

RS is more difficult to get in. (higher over-subscription rate)

However, base on your situation, at P2C, you get a chance at the ballots for RS but likely no chance for Temasek as you're > 1km.

RS is the hotter school all the while.. but heard recently that even for Temasek, P2B also need to ballot.. but this is hearsay, without referring to stats so maybe you need to do some research to confirm.

You are probably better off investing in RS due to geographical reasons alone, althou RS is likely to have much stiffer competition.

just saw online news from Straits times, Bedok west pri will be absorb into Damai primary school.

come next year 2015 P1 intake :-

in Bedok :-
Damai primary = (Damai + Bedok West) combined
Damai will retain its name and building


in Tampines :-
Angsana primary = (Qiaonan + Griffiths) combined

(Angsana is name of a plant)

Why they cannot retain the name of Qiaonan, an 88 year-old school, is totally beyond me.

Qiaonan anytime sound much better than angsana !
