Jennifer:
      Shan:

My DS1 had exam access arrangements for PSLE last year.

On PSLE cert. & result slip, there is a \"+\" sign. And on back of cert. indicated:
      +Access Arrangement Symbol
The candidate sat the paper under access arrangements. Details may be obtained from the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board.

For written exams, some of his access arrangements were extra time(15mins), single sided question papers and separate room. The requests were put up by his Allied Educator in school and supported by doctor's letter.

      :thankyou: for sharing.

R u aware whether this arrangement affected the sec 1 central posting exercise?

It does not affect students’ progression to the next level of study as indicated in MOE website.
      http://www.moe.gov.sg/media/parliamentary-replies/2013/01/special-allowances-for-student.php

My DS1 has similar exam accommodations in his primary school exams as he has medical condition with learning difficulties.

No lah, it only reinforces my belief that the sch is not giving enough practices and attention and we must do more at home on 1 to 1 :gloomy:

what kind of practices do you give ah boy for hcl? my dd's tutor wanted her to concentrate on cl as hcl is technically not calculated into the tscores. said, a pass will be good enough. 🤷

I bou the PSLE titles HCL assessment books from Popular.

Ah boy's private tutor only focuses on NC, told us since we do not intend to apply to SAP sec sch, we shld not spend too much time on HCL.

The tuition centre seems to be concentrating on NC too.

No doubt what they said is correct, I do not feel comfortable to let ah boy fail HCL.

There will be more to catch up in sec sch NC if we do not do sth now.
thank you. you're right, a fail will look awful on that result slip.

we've bought some hcl assessment books, but they are quite neglected. perhaps see how i can work some practice into her schedule this weekend. so far she has been borderline pass. it seems that scoring in hcl takes a very strong foundation in the language which my dd doesn't have.

Oh science Heuristics. I thought it was a different one. I already told about this to my friend. Kindly share your experience after the course. Thank you.

Do you have first hand experience with this centre to share with us?
No. My DD is in P4 now. My friend asked me to check about various crash courses and the feedback from the parents.
Good news to share:

ah boy finally passed his HCL paper 2 - 42/60, highest in his banded class is 46/60

:rahrah: :rahrah: :rahrah: :congrats: to Jennifer and ah boy

A ray of sunshine amidst all the prep stress...

ah boy came back, standing at the door with a grumpy face, told me his HCL paper 2 was returned today. There is a digit 2 in his score. My heart sunk at that moment, thought failed again.
😄

I heard the time extension is only about 10 mins per paper, and there will be a remark on the PSLE cert abt the time extension.

Is there a link on MOE or SEAB website that can confirm the above?

I think it depends. In our school, I know some kids were given 10 mins and some were given slightly more than that. If I get the chance, I ask again.

NC is normal Chinese, not Higher Chinese, not foundation Chinese.
