Tamarind probably single-handedly caused 四五快读 to be OOS so frequently. haha!

But Charmaine, even if you join the spree, the spree organiser is also ordering from dangdang. So it still means he/she probably cannot order the books too. The stock supply actually comes back quite soon.

When I tried to order in late Nov last year, it was also OOS. So it cannot be due to me lah 😉 Yes the stocks came back quite soon.

Do you guys know when the next spree will be? I tried to contact the blog in Singapore listed a few pages back some days ago, but there was no response.

The 小丁当 comics worked so well, tks so much Tamarind!! My 三国演义video was a flop - the Chinese was too hard even for me (I think my level is P6 only :P).

        Blobbi,

        You are welcome !

There is a 小丁当 movie, about 大雄和恐龙 which is very good. You can look for it in local stores.

Also, look for movies by Hayao Miyazaki, 宮崎駿.

Which blog are you referring to ?

Tamarind, it's this one. Oops, not blog. Once I open the Dangdang website, I start to feel vertigo - so woozy. I can't understand the Chinese words lah  .

Yes I will check out the movies, hehe. Hayao Miyazaki movies- yahor, can switch to Chinese.

          Tks much again!

            Blobbi,

I also email them before to check prices but no reply.

I will be recommending more books to the National Library, hope that they will bring the books in.

              Need some advices....

My girl is 6 and we have made the common mistake of speaking to her in English since young...now she is not able to carry out a decent conversation in Mandarin. She does not understand simple stuff like \"Have you had homework from school today?\" in Chinese. 😛 Wll to give her credit, at least she is now able to say \"I am full already\" as compared to not being even to answer to her Chinese name 1.5 years back.

She is not interested in all things Chinese as she does not understand the language. No Chinese books, no Mandarin TV cartoons. Her school teachers are very divided because normally she is a very well behave child but when it comes to Chinese class, she is \"inattentive\", \"playful\" and \"slow\".

I am looking if anyone can suggest any reading materials in Chinese alike the Ladybird series which keep repeating words.... She took to the ladybird very well and I hope this can work for her in Mandarin.

Hi Sesame, one of the forummers here, Tamarind, started this thread called Teaching Chinese at home. http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3878

Do have a look at it. She's been very kind to provide us with with loads of information and suggestions about Chinese books in her blog. I'm quite new to the forum but I've already benefitted from it. I'm quite sure you'll find it useful too.

                Cheers!

Thanks Tamarind, for your generous sharing of how you teach your children Chinese.

I've visited your blog and decided to order some of the books you've recommended 😄

                    Hi all mummies,
                    Just for sharing...
I found a chinese readers that similar to Peter & Jane. Please click on the link for further information.

                    Hi Charmaine_chong,

I have received some books exactly for this 学前阅读计划 series from my ex-colleague. Surprisingly it is same as the link you have refered here! 🙂

Since I have 2 series of it, so I make use of it to teach my kids chinese by using this reader which is similar to Peter & Jane series. Wow... it is really good! I can see big improvement in my kids who obviously face problems in recognising chinese words! 😄

I was encouraged to buy the further series for my kids. 🙂 From the link, I noticed there are actually 5 series for this reader. Each serie got 8 books. After finishing the 5 series, children are exposed to 1200 words.

Here are few pages of the book 1 content in 1st series:

I started to use this reader 2 weeks ago. I ask my kids to read out loud for few pages or one whole book everyday, depends whether they have mastered the previous pages. So far, my girl has proceeded to read book 1 for 2nd series, while my boys are reading book 5 and book 6 for 1st series.

Hopefully they can finish all the series before they go to P1 next year! Then be able to read other chinese books with interest as well... 🙂

So if any parents here are interested, you can refer to the above link as well.
