My worst fear materialised.
Prelim Sci results r made known today.
Section A 54/60 whereas section B 25/40
Paper was not returned today.
Eversince the tutor cant come anymore due to pregnancy complication and replaced by another tutor, I hv the feeling that this tutor (who is one of the owners of the centre) is not reaching out to ah boy.
Now I hv another subj to deal with at home :faint: -

My DD thought it was quite descriptive of her school too. So i guess such situation are quite common. But she has nice friends there despite the competitive environment.
My daughter is from that school (very obvious from the description of the school) and so far, has not had that kind of experience. I guess, as in any school, there are some who are overly competitive but not all are like that.Jennifer:
Today's The ST Forum page has a mother who wrote in to highlight the lack of compassion among top sch students in her children's sec sch.
Sad.
I hope ah boy has the good fortune to meet people with a good heart. -
Just realised. I would probably only be crying tears of joy if my score for PSLE is the same as the number on this page… Wow. I have some mental problems.

Nightmares.:
Ah well. Instead of pushing others down to make myself taller, I should concentrate on pulling myself up to reach my goal.
Don't put others down. Last year, I had a student (in the best class) who was always ridiculed by some of his classmates. It was very depressing for him. I had to constantly reassure him and counsel him. He has never scored below 85 for any of his P6 exams but in his class there were a few who managed to score slightly better than him. When he told me what they said to him and how sad he felt, tears came to my eyes. I felt very disturbed by how destructive such words can do to a kid.
Please please never do that again..
Concentrate on your PSLE. You will do well. Jia You! :rahrah: -

my dd says section a at 54/60 is ok, section b needed to work on.
did ah boy say this paper is esp difficult compared to his sa? perhaps things aren't as bad as u imagined it to be.
anyway, my turn will come when my dd finishes her prelims this week.

I also realised my DS has issues with MCQ. The key to A* in science is the Section A actually. Also a heavily penalised section, as the wrong answer is straight away 2 marks gone.
I have been doing only Section A with my boy, but getting beyond 56 is tough for him. Usually the type of qtns he gets wrong are those with answers like - A and B, B only, etc. Some of the options are so close, he makes mistakes . I must confess some are too close to decipher for me too :gloomy: . The other type of qtns are those with graphs - I have gotten him to make sure he writes some notes beside the graphs to understand what is going on.
Try and analyse what mistakes ur boy has made and zoom into them. Cheer up :hugs: - maybe it is just a one off badly done paper, how did his classmates do??
