My child is in P6 and I would like to share some information which I think the school can improve upon.

Recently, the school had conducted the P6 preliminary oral exams. Most of the teachers are mobilised to examine the 270 odd pupils within a day for each language. I understand that due to manpower shortage, some teachers engaged to give the oral exams may be inexperienced in handling the P6s. As a result, my child was allocated 2 teachers identified to be the Infocomm CCA teachers for Chinese oral. My child’s friends from Infocomm CCA said that one of the teachers is Chinese speaking while the other is English speaking. I cannot verify if both are upper MT teachers but I find the arrangement a little strange. I cannot help but doubt if they are able to assess my child’s oral adequately.
Another strange encounter is that my child’s class’ English oral exams were split into 2 groups and examined by 2 pairs of teachers. If my child was not mistaken, the results obtained by the 2 groups are rather distinctive. One group saw 6 students obtaining the full marks of 30/30 while none from another group obtained the full marks but instead the best students could only managed 27 marks.
I hope that in future, the same teachers could be arranged for the same class so as to ensure that a fair test is carried out. As what we have learnt from Science, only one variable (students) should be changed. In addition, experienced upper P6 MT and English teachers should be engaged to assess the pupils so as to make the whole exercise meaningful.
My apologies if my information is not thoroughly accurate.
What I want to bring across is that I wish the school can look into details like this for the benefit of the next crowd.

:? Who are you referring to? I thought the last few posts were the most cordial, No? They weren't intended to be nasty or hostile, none at all. Hmm...I suppose different people, different take. Mods, if you deem our posts inappropriate, please feel free to embargo. BTW, go watch the movie, it is award-winning, and very touching!
