I think every centre will take the New Academic year as the TIME to raise fees. The fee increment is not a surprise for me... Am expecting but on the other hand, keeping my fingers crossed.

When we finally joined them this year, i compared the prices and there was already a slight increase from 2012 fees and also, I think they removed the 5% discount for second subj. We are only with them for 1 subj currently.. Was thinking of adding writing next. 😞

I dropped tien hsia eventually, though it is so difficult to get a slot there, because they had been increasing their fees... without any Notice. Some will not even realise because they just pay and pay when they receive the payment notice. I have a very small budget, so I am very alert to any difference in price. They just kept going up! So I gave up!

        sleepy:
I feel that Mindstretcher may have miscalculated their latest move to increase profits.

Their target customers are budget conscious parents. The main pull factor to MS is affordability with reasonable standard, not tip top standard but since we didn't pay a lot so we are prepared to overlook some of grouses with MS and make do.
They are definitely going to lose students. They should have at least attempt to address those existing issues and improve control on QC on teachers before attempting to increase fees at such a big jump

But if every one in the industry increases their fees too, they are still the affordable ones.
My pockets already very tiny.. Now they are adding holes to it.

Not only tuition/enrichment centres are increasing prices. Even child care centres too. My kids' centre will increase by whopping $100 + gst wef Jan 2014. Thankfully my elder is P1 next year. 😓

Current MSLC rate seems to match TAS rate.

It is getting hard to find centre that conduct lessons in smaller class size nowadays. LP is holding their class at max. 12 now, for K2 level.

I hve alwy like MS coz of its comprehensive notes, difficult worksheets & affordable fees. But somehow, when my gals reached upper primary, (that’s whn they hv their own opinions), they dont like MS coz they say their teachers dont explain much, they simply distribute worksheets. I tried to convince my gals coz budget v tight w 3 kids! But w the fees increase, I will hv to thk twice.

I have not seen their math or English worksheets… But my opinion is, MS are for kids who are already doing/coping well in school, these kids probably will benefit from exposure to the challenging worksheets ( frm what I hear) MS provides. Those who are weak in the subjects will probably struggle to keep up… since it will be difficult for the teacher to give personal attention to the child due to the class size and the child will not fully benefit from the challenging worksheets if she is already having problem with the regular work.

I resisted sending to their math class for past few years, though very tempted because I heard they hv very gd math worksheets… Am finally thinking, next year is the TIME… But with the increase, gotta think about it again.
