    • RE: Edusave Scholarship Award

      Thanks for the info.

My mistake. I think I made the assumption that most girls would have received the EESIS at Sec 1, so no longer eligible.

A check with MOE confirmed that Edusave award apply to All Independent schools, Autonomous schools, government schools, government-aided schools, Junior Colleges, etc.

However, selected students will be chosen by their respective Secondary schools management.

      https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/edusave
Does that only apply to those who did not receive the ESIS? Those who got in with PSLE 26X would have received ESIS.

      Derek_Lee:

Based on MOE website, It ought to be 10% of IP Cohort.

Up to P6 in primary school, they still separate Top 10 percent of Mainstream pupils, from Top 10 percent of GEP students, because different curriculum track.

But, for IP schools with lower Secondary (1 and 2) like RI & RGS, or Sec (1 and 2) Hwa Chong & Nanyang Girls High / Dunman High, where lower Sec still have separate GEP classes from normal Mainstream classes, not sure is it

      - they lump everyone together, in the lower Sec Top 10 percent IP cohort,

      or

      - still separate out the lower Sec (1 & 2) Top 10 percent Gep students, from another group of Top 10 percent Mainstream students ?

      Eg

For Sec 1s (Year 1), RGS have (open) more GEP classes, compared to Nanyang Girls' High number of Sec 1 GEP classes.

But, from Upper Sec 3 onwards, since no more GEP class anymore, thus Sec 3 onwards should be ... Top 10 percent, of the entire IP cohort.

I think RGS and NYGH students are not eligible for the Edusave scholarship awards. The award is only for Govt/ Govt-aided/autonomous schools. Please correct me if I am wrong.

My brother is considering RGPS for his kid this year. But we heard that RGPS is becoming less focused on academics in the recent years and some friends told us in the next few years, expect RGPS' PSLE results to drop! Any current parents can share your views on this?

We have a close friend whose child got high 90% in P1 last year but did not get any award. Does this mean RGPS stopped giving the Edusave Outstanding Academic Achievement award for top 25% for the Primary 1 last year or the standard for P1 is VERY high? Anyone knows what overall % will get top 25% or top 10%? Thanks!
Edusave awards are given out by MOE, not individual schools.

      Is the child a singaporean?

      MrsKiasu:
how to read the table? for nygh read previously 258 successful..shouldnt we see the 2018 no aff min (= non affiliated min cop?) as somewhere around 258 (in table is 264)? or am I at the wrong frequency?

I think it refers to the 2018 Secondary 1 batch, not the latest 2018PSLE/2019Sec 1 batch.

    • RE: Which Secondary school to choose in the East

      kye_lin:
I thought putting St Patrick 2nd choice will affect chance of losing to another student with 225 who put St Patrick as 1st choice.....

What differentiates two students with same score of 225? Who gets to pick first?

      Thanks!
      Doesn't matter which choice...
The person with the higher score has the better chance.

With exact same score, then SC will hv priority over PR over foreigners. If all else equal and SC vs SC, then will be balloted...

      Estéema:
      You’ll receive 3 items :-

      1. An MOE PSLE Certificate with grades scores printed (no aggregate score).

      2. A results slip with MOE & SEAB logo on left & right respectively, shows your child’s grades & aggregate score.

      3. A perforated S1 Option Form - will state a list of eligible Higher Chinese, 3rd language/Malay Special Programme/Arabic or Bahasa Indonesia. S1 Pin Number printed on top Right Hand.

The abv 3 items were issued with a MOE hardcover pocket holder with all abv items slipped into this folder.

      Keep calm & collected.

      ALL THE BEST! :xedfingers: 🙏
Everything was given in a clear sheet protector, the PSLE result slip right in front , so the grades and aggregate score were clearly visible to all prying eyes.

Tomorrow after eat breakfast, can go to school wait for results. Hopefully, they release perforated result slips inside the P6 classroom, instead of inside school hall (very noisy, crowded, full of parents)

Nowadays, P won't announce who is the highest scorer, amongst P6 cohort
No perforated result slip but printed on A4 size and visible to all the eagle-eyed classmates and parents. 😓
