Carol0425:May i know what is TLL stand for?
Thanks for the info.
My mistake. I think I made the assumption that most girls would have received the EESIS at Sec 1, so no longer eligible.
phtthp:Does that only apply to those who did not receive the ESIS? Those who got in with PSLE 26X would have received ESIS.A check with MOE confirmed that Edusave award apply to All Independent schools, Autonomous schools, government schools, government-aided schools, Junior Colleges, etc.
However, selected students will be chosen by their respective Secondary schools management.
https://www.moe.gov.sg/education/edusave
phtthp:I think RGS and NYGH students are not eligible for the Edusave scholarship awards. The award is only for Govt/ Govt-aided/autonomous schools. Please correct me if I am wrong.Derek_Lee:Based on MOE website, It ought to be 10% of IP Cohort.
Up to P6 in primary school, they still separate Top 10 percent of Mainstream pupils, from Top 10 percent of GEP students, because different curriculum track.
But, for IP schools with lower Secondary (1 and 2) like RI & RGS, or Sec (1 and 2) Hwa Chong & Nanyang Girls High / Dunman High, where lower Sec still have separate GEP classes from normal Mainstream classes, not sure is it
- they lump everyone together, in the lower Sec Top 10 percent IP cohort,
or
- still separate out the lower Sec (1 & 2) Top 10 percent Gep students, from another group of Top 10 percent Mainstream students ?
Eg
For Sec 1s (Year 1), RGS have (open) more GEP classes, compared to Nanyang Girls' High number of Sec 1 GEP classes.
But, from Upper Sec 3 onwards, since no more GEP class anymore, thus Sec 3 onwards should be ... Top 10 percent, of the entire IP cohort.
manorway:Edusave awards are given out by MOE, not individual schools. My brother is considering RGPS for his kid this year. But we heard that RGPS is becoming less focused on academics in the recent years and some friends told us in the next few years, expect RGPS' PSLE results to drop! Any current parents can share your views on this?
We have a close friend whose child got high 90% in P1 last year but did not get any award. Does this mean RGPS stopped giving the Edusave Outstanding Academic Achievement award for top 25% for the Primary 1 last year or the standard for P1 is VERY high? Anyone knows what overall % will get top 25% or top 10%? Thanks!
MrsKiasu:how to read the table? for nygh read previously 258 successful..shouldnt we see the 2018 no aff min (= non affiliated min cop?) as somewhere around 258 (in table is 264)? or am I at the wrong frequency?
kye_lin:Doesn't matter which choice...I thought putting St Patrick 2nd choice will affect chance of losing to another student with 225 who put St Patrick as 1st choice.....
What differentiates two students with same score of 225? Who gets to pick first?
Thanks!
We are also disappointed with the result. DD is extremely disappointed. Will get over the disappointment
Estéema:Everything was given in a clear sheet protector, the PSLE result slip right in front , so the grades and aggregate score were clearly visible to all prying eyes. You’ll receive 3 items :-
1. An MOE PSLE Certificate with grades scores printed (no aggregate score).
2. A results slip with MOE & SEAB logo on left & right respectively, shows your child’s grades & aggregate score.
3. A perforated S1 Option Form - will state a list of eligible Higher Chinese, 3rd language/Malay Special Programme/Arabic or Bahasa Indonesia. S1 Pin Number printed on top Right Hand.
The abv 3 items were issued with a MOE hardcover pocket holder with all abv items slipped into this folder.
Keep calm & collected.
ALL THE BEST! :xedfingers:
phtthp:No perforated result slip but printed on A4 size and visible to all the eagle-eyed classmates and parents.Tomorrow after eat breakfast, can go to school wait for results. Hopefully, they release perforated result slips inside the P6 classroom, instead of inside school hall (very noisy, crowded, full of parents)
Nowadays, P won't announce who is the highest scorer, amongst P6 cohort
sweetbaby:By going thru the Secondary School Selection Booklet. Posted to NYGH (non-affiliation): 264-285. :boogie:pirate:So... somebody did score 285 last year... :siam:
WOW :rahrah:
How do we know the topscore? Curious... :?
Kathrynteo:School bus list can be found on the school website, IIRC.Hi all, my child is born in 2013, so we will be registering him for Tao Nan next year. Although we stay around Hougang area but we still decide to put our child in that school cuz my hub is the alumni.
Just a few questions that I hope you all can help:
(1) Can anyone share the school bus list? I just want to see if there’s anywhere I’m able to bring him to to catch the bus if possible. So if I don’t have to bring him all the way to the school.
(2) Those of you who have registered your child into TNS this year, do you have the dates given to you for you to go down and buy the school items? If yes, can share? Just want to have a rough guide as we have an important family event to attend end of year next year.
(3) Are there any orientation for P1 kids? If yes, when do they usually have it? November or December?
Thanks in advance for any replies. :grphug:
I think most centres stop lessons 1 week before the PSLE week.
You can eat either ‘this’ or ‘that’.
You can bake either ‘a cake’ or ‘cookies’ .
You can watch either ‘a movie’ or ‘a musical’
You can either ‘ride a bicycle’ or ‘play basketball’.
You can either ‘go shopping’ or ‘watch a movie’ .
xueyan:To put it simply, 'eat' is the 'shared' word, thus it comes before 'either'.zac's mum:1. You can play tennis. You can swim.
_______________ either_______________ or _______________.
You can either play tennis or swim.
2. We can eat the papaya. We can eat the mango.
__________________ either _____________ or _______________.
We can eat either the papaya or the mango.
For 2, why is it not
We can either eat the papaya or the mango

janet88:Yes. Very young, only early forties. Maybe to the MOE hq?nicnac:New principal next year? Any idea where Mrs Karen Tay is heading to?
no idea...I googled and didn't find her name in other IJ schools. usually IJ principals are rotated around same family of schools. Mrs Tay is still young...unlikely to retire. However Mrs Tan from primary side is retiring. She is really very kind, warm and approachable.
New principal next year? Any idea where Mrs Karen Tay is heading to?
janet88::rahrah: :rahrah:I'm so happy and RELIEVED!

nicnac:Vodkarib:Hi
Seeking advice from parents who have had experience switching from Berries to WLC for upper Primary.
My boy is going to Pri 4 Higher Chinese class next year cos his primary school only offers HC.
He is an average student 70marks.
He has been with Berries since MY and generally likes the Berries teachers who instill fun in classes (OK there was a year that he did not like the male teacher very much). He started out hating Chinese to now being OK with it. He is still very weak in Composition and Comprehension though.
I have heard WLC as better choice for upper primary as they spend more time on writing. Berries being 2hr class has less time to focus on composition ..They only do one zuowen probably every 6 weeks.
One compo every lesson at WLC, whether you join the CC(compo only) class or the P+CC(3hr class).
Most of the work (paper 2 components) is completed in class. Compo is also done and completed in class. You can stay with berries and then join a CC (2hr-compo&compre) only class. If he likes it, then you can consider switching to the 3 hr(all-in-one) class later. OR do 2 separate classes For paper 2 components and compo writing, each 2 hrs on diff days.
Wanted to hear if any child had problem catching up with the work at WLC when they did the switch. For info..I have minimal time to supervise or teach him. I usually leave him to do his own tuition homework from Berries.
