2013 PSLE Discussions and Strategy
-
Now that the P6 Prelims are done and most of the results are out, it is time to focus on intensive revision for the PSLE.
Students should begin to focus on common grammatical mistakes such as Conditional Tenses & how to use ‘who’ & ‘whom’ correctly. In the section on Synthesis & Transformation, students should begin to review the rules, especially for changing Direct speech to Indirect Speech.
For those who are weak in writing Compositions, it is time to create and memorize plots and phrases that can be used for different scenarios, especially in Situation Outline (Continuous writing). The following scenarios can fit in most of the Situation Outlines.
•\tFire
•\tRobbery
•\tPolice (finding a bag or suitcase or box)
•\tA Happy Incident
I have begun a series on Writing tips on my blog http://www.thinking-factory.com/ with words and phrases for each of the above situations, along with a model composition done by one of my students. (due to length of post, I can't post it here). The first one is on finding a suitcase. This topic was taken from one of the top schools prelim composition questions.
Situational Writing is another component that may be neglected but one that students can score full marks for. It is strongly emphasized during my lessons. There are only a few of possibilities (email/letter – formal/informal, notice, report, diary entry) that can come out.Students must use :
•\tThe proper writing format
•\tHave good opening & closing paragraphs
•\tMake sure all the points asked for have been written in the letter/email/notice/report/diary entry
There is still time for improvement! Good Luck to everyone! -
My Tuition Haven:
Is it possible to score full marks for Situational Writing? Everytime dd manages 13/15 almost always. Where did she lose the 2 marks I don't know. Coz I never got to see the paper. Now that the P6 Prelims are done and most of the results are out, it is time to focus on intensive revision for the PSLE.

My stress level = 4/10
My panic level = 8/10
DS's stress level (I think) = 4/10
DS's panic level (I think) = 0/10. He is like no kancheong sense  He treats PSLE as if it is still 3 years away instead of 3 weeks :stupid:
Sorry for the rant. Tomorrow I will treat myself for a good meal or dessert otherwise I cannot last another 3 weeks. -

I told DS and DH that we need to buy Teacher's Day present so we are having dinner outside. They believe my excuse
