My boy did not mention about punctuations. He was very unhappy with the teacher becos he has taken the effort to memorise and was sure he would get all correct. Now those who did not memorise also will get correct ans. His simple thoughts.
Punctuations read out too?Jennifer:
Has P3 child got their first moxie last week?
Surprisingly, Hu3 CL teacher read out the whole sentence for the moxie!
Should be tmr for mine, let u know tr read out anot. She memorised.
My older boy told me during his days, his teachers only read out the first few characters and these few read aloud ones are not counted as part of the correct ans. Meaning if the rest of the sentence are all wrong, it is zero marks for the sentence. -

But after thinking about it, I think moxie ( memorizing) is good for the child in the long run. It will help when writing composition and constructing sentences...especially for those who don't speak Chinese at home. -
Hi Mummies,
When my son was in P3 last yr, I gave him 1 hr to memorize 默写 and 1 hour to memorize 听写. When it came to testing the mo xie, the teacher read out the sentences once to the whole class.
This year's 默写 (1st one) gave me a scare. The characters were GREEK to me   I had to ask the tutor how some characters are pronounced

Hi Dyh,
Thesentences for 默写 are actually extracted from an actual compo. I've compiled the whole year's compo for P3. These are actually 好词好句.
Occasionally you can refer to some of these mo xie sentences to do a compo.

Hi, yeah I do realize that the moxie sentences help a lot when it comes to compos. Where can I find those actual compos you mentioned? do they have such a book for sale? what's the title? TIAHi Dyh,

Hi Dyh,
There isn't a book on those pic for sale, but the teacher will give out compos for the kids to do and sometimes you will find the pictures rather 'familiar'.
As for compo, I get this 'Chinese Essay Writing Guidebook' by Victoria Publications. This year, I've 'handed over' the responsibility of teaching Chinese to the tutor. On my end, I'll test him spelling and revise with him. It's getting harder to teach Higher Chinese at P4

Hi Dyh,
No problem
There are 3 in the 'series': Elementary (P3-4), Intermediate and Advance (P5-6).
BTW, is your child in P4 too ?
