English HOD Mrs Simon has left NCPS & Science HOD Ms Yeo has been promoted & transferred to another school. My son was taught by them last year & they were really very good teachers. Hope there is someone good enough & ready to take over such important roles.

Any idea who are the Eng HOD and Sci HOD now. Heard that for one of the P4 Sci teacher is a trainee teacher and some of the students felt that she doesn't really explain the concepts very well. So kinda worried.

No HOD at the moment. Worry the English & Science standard might drop. Level heads cover for the time being. The Science level head is Mdm Jennifer Pang. She has just been promoted to level head. English level head is Mdm Nur Ashikin. The ex HOD Mrs Simon used to give extra lessons & attention to weaker students. She even typed & printed out the good compo written by students & distributed to the class. It is a great lost to Nan Chiau to lose 2 good HODs.

I would like to enrol my DS into NCPS next year (under P2a1, cross finger no more tweaking to the reg exercise) but the problem is, my DS is half Chinese ( mom Chinese, dad Spanish), so his CL is really bad of course he takes CL in his kiddy but his standard is low…If he really cannot catch up with CL, I wonder can he be exempted from it ? Is the enrivnoment holistic? I graduated more than 30 years ago, things definitely has changed since then…i brought my DS to the school once on a Saturday(to the alumnus office but not allowed to roam about) and he saw a pond at the school lobby and he said he likes the school…lol…is there any open house for the school? Open house is usually for Sec Schools. Visitors are supposed to sign in at the guard post & then proceed to the general office for assistance. You might want to check with MOE. He could choose to study a foreign language instead of Chinese. However, lesson will not be conducted at NCPS.

Hi mummy so kiasu, thank you very much for your reply. Yes, I should check with MOE regarding exemption of CL if DS really cannot catch up with it. I speak Mandarin to him and he replied in English…faint…guess will need to call the office to check can take a look at the campus for a while…I thought schools regardless pri or sec , do have open house once a year

You might want to cultivate his interest first. Sign him up for a Chinese Speech & Drama class & let him watch some Chinese educational programme or even cartoons.

Hi, how do you know which is the top class? A is the only top class? How about B onwards? How do the sch group the class? :scratchhead:

I have a Sec 1 boy & a P2 girl. My boy was in a top class when he was in P5 & P6. He had lots of homework (maybe due to PSLE) & more challenging homework (maybe due to better class) compare to some classes. Sometimes he fall asleep while doing his homework. However, his teachers did not pick on him. According to his teachers, he was a well behave & diligent boy. My younger girl is a slow worker & need supervision. However, lower pri workload is still consider manageable.

My son is in ncps P2 now. Reading above, looks like parents need to sit with kids for homework from P3 onwards. how did you manage to cope up? Are you a working mum?

Please share your comments. It will be much useful for a working mum like me and those who are planning to quit job for PSLE.

Previously A is the best class (P3-). From last year onward, B is the best class. Top 3 in level are in B class. Both A & B classes are consider top classes. They do higher chinese & more challenging worksheets. Classes are allocated base on level ranking.
