I was just hit by a huge bomb yesterday. My Indonesian maid of 11 months was tested positive for pregnancy during a routine medical check up. Thanks to the mandatory off day, she was paid $150 for a sex service.

I just started with a new job. Getting a new maid will need new training regime and more salary.

Anyone with such experience with maid pregnant, please advise.
It's obvious what you need to do.
You have to send her home immediately.
Unless you are willing to get into serious trouble with the authorities.

The agent will not be so foolish as to get involved.
The agent has no responsibility to you any more.
Even if this is within the replacement period, you will not be entitled to a replacement maid in this case.
It is the maid's and your problem.

            Hi all,

I want to renew my maid who has been with me for 2 years. Can I know :
            1) is there new minimum salary that I need to pay for Phil maid. Her previous contract amount is $420.
            2) I will let her go back for 2 weeks in December. Do I need to pay her salary for the 2 weeks ?
            3) any other things to note ? Thanks.

            1) I think its negotiable but gd to check the market rate.
            2) I think you need to check the contract. Typically, I think after end of 2 yrs you need to pay a bonus.
            3) Better to ask a few agents to find out the procedures? Unless you intend to renew WP yourself. šŸ™‚

Just checked with my brother in law who just extended his Filipino maid's contract.
Some things to check with your maid are:
            1) Does she have a passport with sufficient validity?
            2) As they are supposed to be granted with 2wks of home leave, check if she'd like to go back or stay put? (Bonus payout is up to you, otherwise just pay her base on her salary.) Will be more troublesome if she wants to go home, coz she'll then need to apply for the POEA from her embassy or you can engage a local employment agency to do it on your behalf. (About $200)
            3) As for the salary increment, you can negotiate the salary with your maid and come to an agreement.

If she's not going back and holds a passport with sufficient validity, you can just extend her Work Permit via MOM website.
For further enquiries, you can also call MOM hotline to find out more.

            Hope this information helps.

Send her back to the agent asap.

I think there have been cases where employers have requested to MOM for the maid to stay for a few weeks while they find a replacement or at least to cover some of that time. It will be reported to MOM so it may be better just to contact them first, explain your situation and see how long they will allow her to stay.

I was lucky when it happened to me as we figured it out before her medical so we had about a month before we had to send her back.

Listen to POA. You have to send her back immed. Otherwise prepare to pay a fine and bar from hiring maid.

She probably meant that they found out about the maid's pregnancy about one month before her routine medical check-up. So they had about one month to do the nec eg look for replacement.

                      Hi Mrs Ang,

Your Phil maid can go to a remittance branch.
Ameertech Remittance & Exchange Services Pte Ltd (http://www.moneytransfer.com.sg)
                      Pay2home http://www.pay2home.com/
                      or Western Union
                      http://www.westernunion.sg/en/

If your php helper has day off she can go lucky plaza to queue at the banks (PNB etc). There are many php banks there. But the queues are very long if its a weekend day off.

However, my helper told me she'd rather use Ameertech branch near my estate to transfer money to her family thru BDO a/c.

The exchange rates and remittance charges differ across the remittance companies. So you helper may want to check first. Usually they will require the workpermit and you fill in a piece of paper when you remit. Hope this helps.
                      Thanks a lot!

Exactly - her medical was due a few weeks later but if you are cancelling the work permit you do not need to do it. So we used that time to find a replacement then sent her back. We didn't even need to report to MOM.
