Listen to POA. You have to send her back immed. Otherwise prepare to pay a fine and bar from hiring maid.
Huh!!! Why bar. Not the employer fault.POA Teacher:
Send her back to the agent asap.
The agent will not be so foolish as to get involved.
The agent has no responsibility to you any more.
Even if this is within the replacement period, you will not be entitled to a replacement maid in this case.
It is the maid's and your problem. -
Ontheballmother:
Yes, it is employer's fault.
Huh!!! Why bar. Not the employer fault.
Maid getting pregnant is not employer's fault.
But keeping the pregnant maid here is.
Once you know that she is preggie, you have to send her home.
Anyway, when she goes for her regular medical check, MOM will be informed of her pregnancy. If employer still won't send her home... be prepared to lose the $5,000., and don't know what other consequences. -
That’s right POA…clinic has to fax medical checkup form to MOM! I forgot about that.

For my case, the report is still with the clinic. They never do the other test once found out she is pregnant. The report need to be submitted by 10 oct. We are sending her back this fri n agent cancelling her wp today. Is this a proper procedure? She is not aware of our arrangement. -

Thanks mummies for replying.
My maid has completed her 2 years contract by end Aug'13. She is now in new contract but I have not nego the new salary & she has never asked.
I checked with the agent, the current market rate is $500 + $80 (off day). Her old rate is $420. Need your input on if current market rate $500 is correct ? Thanks.
She agrees to go back in December for her break and come back to work with me again. I had renewed her work permit & checked her passport validitiy.mummy_soh:
1) I think its negotiable but gd to check the market rate.Notksmum:
Hi all,
I want to renew my maid who has been with me for 2 years. Can I know :
1) is there new minimum salary that I need to pay for Phil maid. Her previous contract amount is $420.
2) I will let her go back for 2 weeks in December. Do I need to pay her salary for the 2 weeks ?
3) any other things to note ? Thanks.
2) I think you need to check the contract. Typically, I think after end of 2 yrs you need to pay a bonus.
3) Better to ask a few agents to find out the procedures? Unless you intend to renew WP yourself.
Just checked with my brother in law who just extended his Filipino maid's contract.
Some things to check with your maid are:
1) Does she have a passport with sufficient validity?
2) As they are supposed to be granted with 2wks of home leave, check if she'd like to go back or stay put? (Bonus payout is up to you, otherwise just pay her base on her salary.) Will be more troublesome if she wants to go home, coz she'll then need to apply for the POEA from her embassy or you can engage a local employment agency to do it on your behalf. (About $200)
3) As for the salary increment, you can negotiate the salary with your maid and come to an agreement.
If she's not going back and holds a passport with sufficient validity, you can just extend her Work Permit via MOM website.
For further enquiries, you can also call MOM hotline to find out more.
Hope this information helps.
-
I have experience with my previous maid that after 2 years contract she agree to extend. She asked $500 because she doesn’t want to go back home leave. After WP renewed, insurance paid, $500 received she gave me 1 month notice that she wants a transfer because she found a higher salary household.
What I m trying to say is, be more Alert and if she is really a good maid just raise her salary accordingly to save the hassle. -
Hi everyone,
I need advises here. My maid has been with me for 1.5years. At the beginning, she was fantastic. We have also talked about the renewal terms when her contract will be up next year March. However, recently, her attitude took a drastic turn.
Allow me to firstly outline what her duties are:
7.15am Prep the kids for school
7.45am Kids and us off to school and work
7.45am – 12pm Housework
4.15pm – Pick up the kids from school with my dad and a chauffeur
5pm – Prepare dinner for kids
8pm – Prep the kids for bed (if I am not home), most of the time, I will be the one to prep kids to bed
No need to cook for the adults. On rainy Mondays “bedsheets day” I will send the bedsheets to the laundry shop instead of asking her to wash. She is free to rest/go for walk/sleep etc from 12 – 4pm daily. As kids are around on weekends, she doesn’t sweep or mop the floor. She doesn’t need to hand wash the kids’ clothes, all machine washed. Only maybe 5 items each week request hand washing.
She was given a handphone since day 1 as we need the chauffeur to contact her. She is allowed to log on to our wifi to surf the internet and skype etc. We bought MILO, Coffee, Lipton tea, green tea as she needs to these to “fuel” herself, while having access to ALL the food in the fridge. Whenever we are at the restaurant, we eat on the same table, sharing the same food.
She is given advances whenever she asks for it. She is allowed to go to lucky plaza on a weekday (not her off day) to send money if she asks, as we understand that the queue on Sundays is horrible.
Events which happened the past 6 months:
1)\tMiscommunication between her and MIL, resulting to her throwing away her lunch in spite of anger in front of my MIL
2)\t She cooked my bird nest to cook in her porridge, without asking for permission. And when approached, she simply said to deduct from her salary lor.
3)\tShe went to send money on a Wed, but never come home immediately as she spent her whole afternoon dyeing her hair in a salon, without asking for permission.
4)\tA 10kg rice is finished less than 1 month. When approached, she said she has no idea. Since then, I have started recording the consumption and the last bag lasted for 3 months (since the only persons eating on a regular basis are the kids and herself)
5)\tSexy photos posted on her facebook and disgusting comments between her male friends and herself
6)\tMany others, including grumpy face, attitude problems etc
My dilemma is that we can trust the kids with her. Of course now that I have an option to switch maid (a friend’s recommendation), I need to consider if I really want to stick with the current one.
What would you do if you were me? -
Jaiping, I would switch maid. Nowadays maid can only last for 2 years if you are lucky or even lesser period than that. My last 3 maids never complete 2 years contract.
