Last year starts, so I means this year p3B is the best. Understand 3C also doing HC, how do C differ from A & B?

Hi, how do you know which is the top class? A is the only top class? How about B class onwards? How does the sch group the class?[\\quote]
Previously A is the best class (P3-). From last year onward, B is the best. Top 3 in level are in B class. Both A & B classes are consider top classes. They do higher chinese & more challenging worksheets. Classes are allocated base on level ranking. -
Base on past years history, top PSLE scorers (250 & above) mostly come from 6A (previously A class was the best) follow by 6B classes & a few of them from 6C. This is not surprising as the class allocation is base on level ranking, only with a few exceptional cases.Last year starts, so I means this year p3B is the best.
My son is in 3B this yr. The top 3 classes are 3A to 3C, based on total aggregate score (first cut) and Maths results (2nd cut) in P2. Kids are then placed into A to C based on Maths results in that order. So not all kids in 3A are better than those of B or C (in terms of total aggregate), since he/she could be very strong in Maths only but weaker in EL and CL. But tops of each P2 class are likely to be in 3A so making it the best class in general.Last year starts, so I means this year p3B is the best. My son's P2 Maths overall aggregate was 94% so you go and work out what it means to be in 3A. Also, only top 3 classes will take HCL, with an additional paper (questions and compo format differ a lot from normal CL assessment). -
There will be streaming at the end of P2 base on total aggregate score & Math. However, there will be a few exceptional ones whose total aggregate score qualified them to go to top classes but choose not to do HCL (maybe due to not so strong in Chinese) An additional subject (Science) will be taught in P3 & P4, therefore another round of reshuffling at the end of P4 is expected.

If I am not wrong, the whole cohort uses the HCL from P1 to P4.
Come P5, only about 60 - 70 will be recommended by school to take 4S+HMT. By P6, those who did not make the cut for HMT by obtaining merit for HMT will be asked to drop HMT, thereby resulting in only about 40 (give and take) who eventually takes 4S+HMT at PSLE.
There is also an additional class for HMT, but this additional class is by parents’ choice and not the school’s recommendation, so these pupils will not be in the same classes as those recommended by school to take HMT. -
BlueBells:
The above is true till last year P6 cohort. My elder son is in Sec 1 this year & his level cohort used HCL text till P4. However, their compre & compo was not according to HCL syllabus or standard. There has been changes over the recent years. I think now from P3 onwards only top classes do HCL. Currently their comp & compre are following HCL syllabus. If I am not wrong, the whole cohort uses the HCL from P1 to P4.

Mummy So Kiasu,
You are right. They use the same textbook, but only top few classes will cover the extra 深广topics.

Only top 3 classes cover the HCL and with additional HCL paper during exam (extra day) compared to the other 5 classes.Mummy So Kiasu,

Are you staying in Ang Mo Kio? Is your child going to Nan Chiau next year? All schools are using the same Chinese textbook & there is no English textbook. Whereas for Math, NCPS used Discovery Math last year & this year change to Shaping Math.
