I personally find the book good. Would definately recommend it.

What is your thought on this book as compared to Onsponge book?

I have both the books, personally I find the onsponge book more organise n better in mastering the concepts, \"get me thinking\" is good if the kids already have sound concept as it tried to show case how questions can be phrase differently n different ans as a result ....

We have both books too. And yes, both are just as good!


As mentioned by Suz855, ‘GMT’ features a particular type of question phrased differently. I also find their step by step easy to comprehend.

Woman told her friends that her daughter's last year prelim result is very lousy. The friends asked how many marks ( you would have thought of a number by now right?) but she replied 25x only! :yikes:
There are other upper primary school kids around..I wonder how they feel. Everyone has their magic number and there is nothing wrong. But, I feel that we do have to spare a thought for others when you are speaking so loudly in public.

well, such parents are trying to tell others indirecty how \"lousy\" the score is. if given a chance, does she think she can get such grades..
i guess we just have to bear in mind that no matter how the grades our little darlings come back with, they had already did their best.... :celebrate:

I feel don't take it too personally with this type of comment.

Different people has different expectation on their kids. Some, as long as their dc can go EXPRESS, it is consider a GOOD result. Some, their dc maybe those TOP students, hence 250 is disappointing as they have been expecting 260+. Their aim maybe RGS and RI.

Every parent has a \"ruler\" in their heart of how well they want their kids to score. We have to remind ourselves not to compare with other.

:oops: I have my expectation for my dd and ds too. If they score below my \"expectation\", I will also feel they didn't do well even others feel they are good. :oops: :oops: And my expectation for both of them is different too.

totall agree...It's always a conscious effort to remind ourselves that our darlings did their best...plus, with whatever results they have gotten, n we knew that they did their best, do remember to celebrate with them. :rahrah:

Yes, fully agree with observation.

I guess we need to set expectation based on individual abilities.

Some parents are relieved if their child make it to Normal (acad) iso Normal (Tech) or if their child makes it to express iso normal stream. It doesn't matter even if the child just makes it and school selection is \"limited\". Others are only looking at top schools and feel that if their child don't do anything above 26+ range, it's considered as poor.... :? So yes... different abilities and different benchmark.

For a child who is doing well, it's not about passing but how well they can achieve. But for a child who is \"excellent\", it's not about passing well but rather can they be the top in school/ Singapore So it's a relative thing.

At the end of the day, we need to understand our kid's abilities. If they have done their best, that is good even if they are not going to the top schools in Singapore.

Actually my point is.. every parent and every kid has their own expectation. Parents and kids sometimes also have different standard. It is ok to set a certain level of expectation but as adults, we have to exercise sensitivity when we speak in public. As I mentioned, there are upper primary kids around when the woman spoke at the top of her voice ( like me, they did not choose to hear but can't help it). You should see some of the kids' faces. Honestly, 25x may be not a good score for parents aiming high but how many of us can really agree that 25x is a VERY LOUSY SCORE?

Let us not put unneccesary pressure on other DC.
