I remember my son struggling in P1 with the strict discipline then.
In P2, he got used to the fierce teachers. Actually I welcome strict ones because kids do need to be afraid of someone.

Higher Chinese is more difficult, but will see how it goes. This year, there will be a talk given regarding streaming. I didn't know this streaming is required at P4 as per MOE standard. Hope he will stay focused so as not to do his subjects at Foundation level.

I used to spend more time on his Chinese and neglected his Eng. So now I focus on each aspect of Eng - for eg Mon is for Comprehension, Grammar, Cloze, Vocab etc.

That's a very good idea. I am trying to schedule something like that for my dd but being in the pm session, she hardly has enough time in the morning although she woke up early. School bus comes early. However, I am determined to let her write a composition practise once a week. By applying the grammar, spelling, idioms, phrases and sentence structures in writing, then I can guage her level of English and help her improve.

True. Esp when the teachers are responsible.

Last year has 44 pupils who scored 260 & above. Judging from the no. of applause coming from the next class Faith, I believe many come from Charity.

So, I just have to make sure my dd stays where she is now, right? Well...her class is really very very diligent. Although teacher gave them a few days to hand in their journals, more than half the class handed in the following day...and if it's over the weekend, all of them will hand in on Monday eventhough the submission date is on a Wed.

Janet, i am not sure whether it is competitive or since it is only the 3rd week. i only know that the Chinese is very hard. he has no problem with Maths and English so far.

if you consider there is another charity class ahead of faith, it means my son is already at least out of the top 10% in phpps alone; so in this light, i think getting into the top 1% of the population is very very slim... so i hv to be realistic.

Yes, 1%. That's what i learnt from some of the threads in this forum on GEP discussion. heard from another person too.

i understand that GEP has its own special programs to fast track the kids' education.

BTW, I wonder how those top student(s) got 100% for English in P2??? how can it be possible to get full mark for things like composition unless u are as good as the teacher? yes, it is possible for parents to be as good as the teacher, but can a P2 kid do that? this is something i cannot understand.

I wonder too! Perfect score for oral is already tough and perfect score for compo... maybe should ask tr to provide a few copies of perfect score papers for us to read. Anyone ask before?

So u won't need to keep checking dictionary? :lol: His mommy can take over CL? I am trying to 'outsource' one subject to my hubby, he is, not at all, keen. :roll:

My dd told me sometime ago that her friend is taking Malay in P3. Is it a second language conducted during curriculum time? Do all classes need to take Malay?

my thinking is: if the kid can get perfect score, why bother to continue study in that level? must be very boring for the kid. might as well get him/her to jump level so tt it will be more challenging and interesting.
