Hmm....if a child gets perfect score effortless, meaning no extra/reasonable amt of classes outside, yes, I agree with you, he/she should jump level. But how abt those who go classes after classes, study after study? No doubt they are also smart & bright to be able to learn and apply, but they are putting in extra effort & time to be able to achieve tat score. Being in their age level is definitely not boring for this group. On the contrary, moving them up a level may end up depriving them more of their childhood.

I believe the latter group is more common. I personally know 1. Her son practically hermits for an entire month (or 2) to prepare for exam. This started as early as P1. :roll:

Personally, if getting any score tat need to sacrifice a 'normal' lifestyle, I would say its not worth lah.

Btw, in Singapore system, kids cannot jump grade right?

For compo, be it CL or EL, it’s not possible to score full marks because it is subjective. Besides, there are 2 teachers marking a compo.
A mummy mentioned something about writing a weekly compo with phrasal verbs and idioms. It’s a very good way to improve.

My son’s form teacher is expecting her baby and will leave in June. I heard from a friend she is a very understanding and caring person. I can only hope that her replacement will be as good because the 2nd half of the year is very crucial.

I agree. If not, the FT should schedule her checkups on non-school hours. P3 is also a critical year not a year for scapegoats. I think a responsible, committed teacher should think of her students first, pregnant or not. In fact, could be good for baby too: 胎教

my thinking is if the kid can score perfect point, it means he/she is not stretched enough. For these bright kids, their aim then becomes \"achieve 100%\" which is not healthy. because when one day they do not get 100% (and it will happen), it will be a disaster to them and i dunno if they will be able to cope emotionally. i heard a case before where a girl cried becos she got 99% instead of 100% (happened in another school).
