How come RGS no boarding school program for local students?

btw, if not register during the boarding registeration period by 4 Oct, does it mean that not able to attend term 1 boarding school next year?

Did you & your boys attend the RIB Open House last Saturday? How do you find the boarding facilities & its program? Will you sign up for boarding for your kids in Year-3?

Costs 1.6+K for 10 weeks ($900+ after subsidy).
Air-con Study Rooms, Computer Rooms, Lounge.
Air-con Bedrooms.
Triple-sharing.
2 meals a day - Breakfast & Dinner (Lunch included for public holidays).
Laundry + Ironing - 3x a week.
Supervised study 7-9pm, for academically weak students.
Leadership programs & Life-skills courses (cooking, ironing etc).
Recreation (games, movies etc).

Did I miss out anything important ?

Just realize that you may not able to boarding for the term that you choose to, as from the briefing slides it is said assigned by school randomly according to your class…

I think the facilities and program are quite good, as long as your kid can self-control very well

I wasn't there - DH went with DS. DH said he didn't go into the dormitory coz it was quite crowded. Asked them to take picture and ds only took one picture - the bed. :slapshead: The pic in the brochure very limited - show mostly students instead of the facilities.

Do u know if we can pay by Edusave? (Not sure if edusave fund even have $900).

How do they determine who are the academically weak students for the supervised studying? Brochure says 'the tutors or boarding staff ensure that students are studying in the rooms or designated venue.' Just wondering how feasible it is for the staff to ensure if the boys are studying in their rooms behind closed doors?

accountancy and econs do not have a prerequisite subjects from A level

just make sure u get 4 As

The tour i attended was at the 4th block which is reserved for oversea visitors (not the 3 blocks which the boys will be staying), but the guide told us the layout & facilities of all 4 blocks are the same. So, I managed to view all the facilities, including the bedrooms, as no one was staying there at the moment..

They just renovated the place, so all the rooms & facilities are pretty new. I also saw the Gym & Swimming Pool. Wa, like very 'shiok'' to stay there hor. No wonder DS wants to opt for boarding!

Regarding the supervised study, the guide told us the weaker pupils will be identified (maybe below a certain GPA?), and they will have to study at the Study Rooms from 7-9pm Mon-Fri (supervised). For the rest of the boys, they can choose to study in the Study Rooms or their own bedrooms, and they will not be supervised. That's where self-discipline comes in..

Not sure if you can use Edusave for Boarding costs. Maybe you can check with them, if you wish to do so?

Btw.. We cannot choose which term we want our DS to stay in boarding. The school will decide randomly, by classes. 1st term boarding is only 9 weeks, coz all Year-3 boys will be at Outward Bound Camp on the 1st week of Term-1. The other terms' boarding will be 10 weeks.
