Noticed the inconsistencies in how this matter of "contributions" is handled by different classes.

A few classes did order MacDs breakfast, everyone had to buy, no choice…paid $5 each.

Spicy, You could contact the FT or Co-FT for more details on how such contributions were imposed on everyone in the class.

          GLORYMum,

U were right. Think it's handled differently by different classes and how they opted for it.
          1) Teacher's Day - dd'c class no monetary contributions were asked.
          2) Sec4 Graduation - it was only a survey, so not monetary contributions made. DD wrote, not willing
          3) Breakfast - think it's also up to the girls to \"vote\" and decide.

Regarding the Sec 4 graduation. Yes, there was a survey on how much the girls were willing to contribute...

Verdict is out... now the WHOLE class has been asked to pay S$3+ each... even those who had indicated \"not willing\" to contribute at all !!!

It's not about the money per se, but rather, it's about the principle of the whole matter.

Don't know if this \"contribution\" thingy was initiated by the student councillors... if so... just call it youthful ignorance or purely blind enthusiasm for a \"worthy\" cause.

Absolutely NO idea as to what the contributions are to be exactly used for, except that it's for a \"gift\" for the Sec 4 girls.

This \"small\" contribution might be put to better use if donated to charitable organisations like the Red Cross or Salvation Army.

Not trying to slam anyone here. But the principle of the whole matter.. It's just NOT RIGHT. 🤷

$3.60 was collected by the monitor of each class.

No mention of specific details except the money will be used for graduation party for the Sec 4.

DD told me that the contributions are for Sec 4 graduation bears, which will be presented to the Sec4s on the last day of school. Personally I feel that it is for a good cause - to express their gratitude to their seniors and marking the end of their 4 memorable years in NY with a nice touch.

This year there were 4 scheduled time slots for the sec 2 boarding school experience.

                    6 jan - 2 feb
                    17 feb - 16 mar
                    21 apr - 18 may
                    11 aug - 6 sept

Cost at subsidized rate is 550 per student including full boarding and all programs.
