I ask my maid to use cif and clorox for cleaning toilet. And I caught her using my shower gel to wash my toilet so happen that time i was home. She still lied to me when I asked. Super pissed off. Cant imagine what she do when nobody is at home everyday when both my hb and I went working.

Most maid are great in lying to save themselves. I learned to close both eyes now after having 11 maids. I ever caught my maid using my daily toothbrush to clean the edge of the toilet bowl. This despite proper coaching by me.

Just a secret, they will do funny funny things when we not around. The truth hurt.

Isn’t the detergent to wash toilet the "duck" type?

The govt has encouraged us to have more kids, encouraging women to return to the workforce, encouraging more foreign workers into Singapore to work thus making the work life more competitive for working mums.

And now with the weekly off days implemented, which has brought problems after problems to the local families. When will all these stop? I have a hopeless mil who loves herself more than anyone else, so depending on maids after maids to look after the kids. Sometimes I find that I am the joke amongst the problems.

Have been depending on maids to look after my kids whilst I work, and I never fail to feel sad that I could not be the one to accompany them in their growing years.

Kertan, u r not alone. I feel the same.

Sometimes when I was leaving for work in the morning, and I see my maid at home, I can help but think that it is a joke that we r working so hard to earn a living, buy a nice house, have kids… But we are not the ones "enjoying" the fruits of our labour.

We go to work while our maids "enjoy" the luxury of staying in a nice house (ok yes I know they clean our house for us, I am not saying they are not doing anything. Though i am pretty sure she doesn’t spend the whole day cleaning the house since no one is at home…)

Then we have kids and they are the ones spending "time" and taking "care" of them. And most of the maids I had, with an exception of 1-2, are just doing their minimal for their physical needs, not even bothering abt their emotional or psychological needs when we r not at home. Makes me feel sad when my dc were younger and told me that auntie did not want to play with them or bring out their toys for them.

                  I feel the same too.

All my three kids were taken care by maid during their growing up years. I feel sad too not having a chance to be a fulltime mother. The hard truth of living in Singapore. However, I am contented they are healthy and happy.

The weekly off days is a killer to us. My maid got herself pregnant during one of her off days. Already sent her back home and now struggling coaching a new one. Life is really hard but we still need to go on.

Just yesterday, my Selfish mil called my son and told him that she doesn’t want her mil to go home as she finds her irritating and troublesome. And hopes she stays at my place all the time. You see, my fil passed away a few years ago. Other working hard to keep my bills paid every month, we are also paying for my grand mil’s last hospital bills, and medical bills.

My mil has the time and money to sing karaoke, travel, shopping but expects us to pay for her own mil’s bills and maintenance.

I just no longer have anymore extras, and not work and stay home anymore.

I can empathise with you...as working parents, as much as we want to spend time with our kids, the tiredness and limited time disallow that...especially when we have to work and bring money home...end up, the maid spends more time with the kids than us...sigh

Sharing same fate. Was  .

For those with problem w maid, do your dh side with u or with maid ?
For issues on things lost, clothing, my children's book, missing food.
DH's reasoning is that if he also told the maid off, the maid will quit.
I just need him to support me so that maid will realize that it is an issue.
When DH kept silent, it seem that I am at wrong, picking on maid.
This also one of the reason why we always has maid problem and to maid, I am the evil employer since kind-hearted Sir emphasize with them.

                        Don't understand man.
So much empathy for maid welfare but expect the wife to the super woman who help to bring back bacon, children well taken care of, good results, good manners, house clean, etc.
Wife stay up late to do everything is ok but maid must go to bed early.
