Met my neighbour, and she told me when she asked her son, "How was Math paper today?" His reply was, " 太容易了!不好玩”。

It seems for kids who r good in Math, and hv been practising so hard, paper after paper for so many months, r actually looking forward to a more challenging paper, to prove their capabilities or effort, so it may be quite a let down for these group of Math Enthusiast.

          babyjewels:

One year easy does not mean MOE is making it more manageable. I remembered in year 2007, it was difficult and there was a little noise from upset parents. 2008 the paper became much easier and parents thought that maybe MOE is making papers easier. 2009 the paper was even harder than 2007! Many cried after the paper.
If it's easy across the board, they'll find it hard for selection to schools. It's just like if everyone is a scholar, who will be the manager in a company?
So I think for this year, they may have made the paper a little too simple and schools will have a headache when it comes to school selection They may have to make it a little more difficult next year in order to achieve a fine balance of making parents happy and easier for the schools selection process.
Hm. . . . manageable doesn't mean it is ez to get a high score. So I tink it will still be ok in school selection. After 2009, I still rem some of my ds' sch mates were scrambling for Maths tuition. A few of them goes for 3 Maths tuition. Even the school were settg super hard Prelim papers. But I didn't believe that the next yrs will be that hard.
I am so thankful that MOE is doing something. I just feel so heart broken when I see 12-year-olds looking like their whole worlds hv ended bcos they couldn't do their PSLE papers.
I couldn't believe my ears when my dd said that she was hoping for an extremely difficult paper. Apparently, this idea was given to her by her equally capable frens and teacher. I ask her to put herself in the shoes of those who are underperforming and think less for herself.
If MOE is going the direction I think they are going, soon there might even be no school selection any more : ) My humble tots on this.
p.s. I think managers are chosen not based on their academic results, right? But apologies, I don't know what are the current bases for managerial selection.

Oops, my dd is actually studying now. Hv bn doing it since 12.45pm. She wants to sleep early at 8pm and catch some tv before that.
Tomm she will start the day with an early morning swim and carry on with her revision thereafter. Her father intends to bring her jogging on Sun morning, together with her gorgor. I don't kn why but she gets sick more easily if she doesn't exercise, plus she is more alert after that.
Tough living with all these fitness buffs. I can't wait for the day to come when he brings all out jogging and I sleep thru.
                    But all kids are different . . . .
