if no CO, then is very competitive to get into top schools since papers are easy, is this clear? or maybe to some they dun aim for top school but problem will still be the same..competitive...
U mean if the papers are difficult, it would be less competitive to enter top schools? :?

If paper is difficult, but u r among the top few who can get most of them correct then you will score high ... Also the deviation is wide so likely will give u a good T score ... When everyone can do the paper n if u are smart but abit careless type like my dd then she loose her advantage altogether ....

Whether it will be less competitive to enter the top school or not I can't comment much but if you can get a high T score for your strong subject which happen to be a 'killer paper'at least u are 1 step closer to enter one of those top school.

To ensure good PSLE results, you need to be good in all subjects, be an all-rounder and not depend on luck (ie. difficult paper for your best subject).

But here I’m not talking abt competing for a place in top school. I’m talking abt top performers type of students, feeling that when a paper is too easy, they are deprived of a chance to outshine others, bcos with more people (referring to average or above average students here), now are able to score as a high as them, and that makes these pupils unhappy. Not forgetting that, some of these are those who already got multiple COs, but still has this mentality of seeing others falter & the want to outdo others is a real concern & not a healthy sign.

We are living in one of most competitive cities in the world n there is no wrong to be ks; everyone aims to be the one of the tops; this is realistic world n every student is expected to perform well in psle to proceed next level in top n hot schools.

:imcool:[/quote]I think the right term should be 'competitive advantage' if we discuss from a personal POV. The competition to enter top schools still doesn't change...

Personally, I'm still glad English and Math were easy papers this year, though kiddo consistently gets > 98 percentile in English and > 90% percentile in Math in difficult school exams. I hope there will be better mix of students in top schools and hence reduce the competition there. I was actually discouraging kiddo to go top schools (if can make it) as the stiff competition is very unhealthy.

… Simple vs hard paper …No wonder MOE knows that there is a very big gap between the good student and the average student in terms of attitude towards fellow classmate. My DD is in an integrated class that is mixed with GEP students… You can already see the attitude among them… And it’s not good

She came back today at least feeling happy that the paper is easy… Her maths is only average in her integrated class.

As a future leader , we parents have shape how they will behave … Looking at the discussion on This maths paper … Haiz

One more thing… When you go for job interview … There is no space to fill in Primary school T score results in the application form… It all start with O level …

The HR never ask you which pri Sch are you from ?

Then perhaps the question now is why is psle still around? 🙂 as long as there is elitism, the exams won't be scrapped. So it will always be a recurring prob year after year. 🙂
