    • RE: DSA 2017

Just to add, I know of a few sport talents (national level, not just inter-school) courted by top schools but eventually they chose SSS because they are more interested in a sports career. One of them was from GEP.

For the kids with the potential to score 252 and above in PSLE (the kids usually in the best class in mainstream, or in GEP), they can cope with the top schools’ academic rigour with strong parental support. The sports talents need a core CCA in secondary schools anyway and having a confirmed CCA in a sport which they are already excelling through DSA is not a bad deal actually. However, for those who are scoring 240 and below, it is generally very difficult to cope in top schools. Parents have to assess if it really makes sense to chiong via the DSA Sports route.

I have heard of the RI recent suicide cases too.

I do not know the reasons, probably it's not stress from studying, maybe relationship? I mean there could be many reasons behind it, not necessarily due to the school and the results etc.
Any adverse news from RI/RJC get a lot of attention from outsiders when many in the school are already talking about it. There are many similar suicide news from neighbourhood schools too every now and then but nobody else (except for those in there or with kids in there) really bothers.. one of them happened just two days ago in one of my kids' school  a foreign student. Though not in the same class, I think my child is affected too. The seventh month power lah..

      Hi Jennifer

What's your current router? Ever since I replaced my SingTel service provider router with this ASUS RT-87U-AC2400, we can receive signals from every corner of the house. I was initially thinking of getting a range extender, but dread the effort I've to go through to make sure that the SingTel router can 'talk' to the new extender at all times.

Your current router is nicely placed near to the centre of your house, so I believe a powerful ASUS router would probably solve your problem easily. Love my ASUS :imcool:

More info about the router here: http://www.asus.com/sg/Networking/RTAC87U/

      :thankyou:

one question: this router can connect to MioTV setup box?

Yes, with one of its 5 LAN ports. I guess you can call ASUS technical helpline if you run into issues.

So quaint! Like the brownish rustic tinge...thatched roof cottages are so cozy (referring to previous 2 shots)...

      How cold was it?

Must make one trip there...thought I saw DNLS-mum mentioned this UNESCO village, or was it someone else.

Can't remember how cold it was...maybe around 5~10°C in the day.
It was just beginning to snow when we were about to leave that place...so the roofs (how come not rooves?) weren't covered until the next day!!

A lot of people from SG and MY are flocking to that region this time 'round...can recognise their English and Mandarin (!!!) easily!

Nice one.[/quote]Very nice...now feeling a strong urge to visit Japan next year...
