Comparing English Enrichment Programmes

Very well said on LP!Yes I agree cost is increasing for all enrichment centres.
But you will need to compare effectiveness vs cost..if the feedback is that Lp is effective by all parents on this thread, I am sure parents will not hesitate to spend the extra $$$....
:imcool:
I can see that in my nephew now. He has been with Lp since the P1 Headstart and according to his school teachers, he is consistently among the top performers in his class and school thanks to LP for his English and Maths scores. His writing skills and grammar are also one of the best in school. In fact, his compositions are always put up on the school notice board :boogie:
In fact, he is always made to go to the whiteboard by his school teachers to explain to the rest of the class how he got his answers and to explain to his classmates how to do the model drawing...he attributes it to LP Maths for this!! :imcool:[/quote]
I have a church friend who put her son in Mavis for their Creative Writing.
The son didn't improve even after 1 whole year. When she transfered him to LP English, within 3-4mths she could see improvements in his composition writing.
Not sure what LP is doing-but whatever they doing seems to be on the right track! -
There is no one recipe fits ALL the child. Every child is different in their learning style. LP has good programmes around but it is not necessary fit every child. Good programmes also required good teachers to carry out, otherwise no use right?

Well said.
Thankfully my son is benefitting tremendously from LP classes.
And he has the privilege to be under good teachers at LP :xedfingers: -

Yes, agreed. Every child is different thus what works for one child may not work for another. Good programs are important but good teachers who can motivate are also very important. -

Does LP give out a lot of homework? If yes, what kind of homework?
Thank You... -
Does LP has sec class? TAS and MS are now starting sec class. There seems to be more demand for tuition.

From those around me, I understand that TAS is more open to promoting their students to higher levels as long as they show the ability to follow the lessons. This is especially so for those who start with them since preschool. My nephew started with TAS when he was in K1/K2. Though he’s only a P2 this year, he is attending the P4 class with other P4 students. Another P5 who joined them at P3 has just finished P6 class with those taking PSLE this year.
PS : My nephew is also among the top performers in his class, scoring above 95 for English exam which includes composition writing. -
DS2 was in TAS a few years back. Remembered that had to take test to assess…and there were 1 or 2 kids in higher level in his class. For DS2, TAS did not work for him (not cos it is not good) as I think the big class size was not able to help him as he is about average in standard. And my boy gets distracted in big class size.

Yes, I remember them having to take assessment tests. The test is more to place them on the right level.
But to be fair, TAS seems to be working for my nephew, but not my niece (his older sister). Though she's also another P5 who has finished the P6 syllabus at TAS, my sis feels her compo writing has yet to meet her expectation.
Erm, my niece's results are consistently above 80 but not beyond 90... -
Currently my DD is in TLL. May I ask which English Enrichment school is better - TLL or LP? Her cousin is in LP since P1 and his English is really good.
