Another factor would be number of siblings that are contributing as well

err....maybe the poll results can give you an indication of how much pocket money you may get from your kid/s when you are old after you pouring your so much blood and sweat on them...

              要知未来事,可看现行为....

                My mum got 6 kids.

Three who can afford give between the range of $500 to $2000.

Year end bonus time, each will also give mum bonus.

The other two brothers not giving coz just making enough for their own families (but will bring my mum out for makan).

My second sis not giving coz she SAHM and got 3 kids.

Six of us never 'quarrel' about who give less, give more, or never give, coz we are all understanding and filial kids and my mum knows...

Nowadays many have one or two kids, next time our 'sources' will be more limited. Kekeke...

I am working towards having enough for retirement and not depending on DS.

With ever raising home prices, more likely it would be us helping him to purchase his first home.

                    aiyo tankee ah, remember 心想事会成......

switch your mindset, that your kid can make it himself and no need your help and that he will give you pocket money (no matter whether you can or cannot take care of yourself financially when old).

                    Always must have FAITH......

Think overall I always feel when spending on own kids, most parents 敢敢花, but when come to own parents, then can 慢慢来...
                      Yeah, I noted that too.
