      25hr mama:
In the current system, all students are taking Mother Tongue (Core module).

Students with the ability and interest in the subject will be encouraged to take up HMT, which is pitched at a higher level. Both parents & students are given the option whether or not to accept the offer.
Maybe, it's just my personal view, the same can be applied to the other 3 subjects, which means to also offer Higher Math, Higher Science & Higher English to students, so as to meet the learning needs of students of different ability and interest.

At the end of day, PSLE papers would still be pitched at the Core modules standard, which ideally, should be at a more acceptable or reasonable level of difficulty for the whole cohort, which means not overly easy & not overly difficult.

Then maybe, or hopefully, not sure if it's workable, it will meet the needs of both parents and children with different ability and interest. Those who prefer to lead a less stressful life can choose not to opt for the higher level curriculum, and those who believe that their children's potential need to be stretched to their fullest can opt for them, it's a individual choice & preference, based on ability, interest and preferred stress level.

Just my 2 cents worth. πŸ™‚
Interesting... And have similar merit points system like HMTL with some modification...

Actually v good suggestion. Your choice, your consequence. Everyone is happy this way.

But having to add β€˜higher’ science n math will further disadvantage the more humanities inclined kids

I do not understand why when papers are easy, you will not get into your dream school? The t scores that a secondary school will accept will depend on the current cohort. If you are really that good, i dont see the need to worry. The COP is just a reference.

Coz those who are expected to do well will lose their advantage when those slightly below will catch up.

Hahaha... If it's not a prerequisite, like it's not necessary to take HMTL at psle to go sap school, then it shouldn't affect, I think. Unless parents change the mindset, then indeed, the cycle begins. πŸ˜„

That will be like the old 'A' level and S papers.

Will the higher level modules be taken into consideration when applying for Secondary schools?
