Any idea whether there is still exemption skeme in RVHS? FES ? Btw, I think there are quite a no. Of relief teachers in RV who are not even trainee teachers. Furthermore, they are teaching for more than a term and I heard that they even set common test questions?

Think no more exemption scheme. The top students in my child's class are also taking the EOYs.
Also heard from another parent that a few Y1 geography was taught by a relief teacher. Test paper was set by the relief teacher too. Many had done badly across the level. If this is true, reflect badly on the school's management of testing protocols.

Indeed, the exemption schemes that were in effect from 2010 to 2012 will no longer be so from this year onward.

With regard to the Y1 Geography issue, I feel it may not necessarily be the teachers' problem. Considering geography being a humanities subject, it is never a all-can-score subject. Some may scrape through it, some just cannot do it while some can ace it and say: \"no kick\". And by the fact that they are Y1 students, they possibly need more time with geography since it is a totally new subject to them. The ability to adapt also differs. Of course, if everyone in the cohort failed the test then yes, a review is a must! Just my two cents worth.

            Parents with Y2 kids,

May I ask if the kids would be choosing their subjects combination at the end of this year?
            Thanks.
Hi, not sure what the school's plans are for current Y2 batch, but the situation for Y2 2012/Y3 2013 batch is a Subject Updating Exercise.
(They are going to conduct a Subject Combination Exercise for Y4 2014 at the end of the year.)

Subject Updating Exercise for Y3 2013:
            1. Choose BSP/no BSP (Bicultural Studies Program)
            2. Chemistry + \"Biology OR Physics\" (for double science)
            3. Triple Science? If yes, Physics + Chemistry+ Biology
            4. Both Geography and History are to be studied in Y3.
            5. No Singapore and Comparative Studies - previous cohorts used to have SCS in BOTH Y3 and Y4.

Not sure if there will be changes for the Y3 2014 exercise.

            Hope this helps.

The system has changed. Now yr 2 students are able to choose whether they want triple humanities/triple science provided they have GPA higher than 3.2. Also, they will be able to choose one humanities (if they don’t take triple humanities) from this list: Geography, History, EL lit, CL lit and Bi Cul.

                  Hi Year 2 parents,
Appreciate if you could share your child's subject combination, please.

Based on Just2Random's post, one can choose either triple humanities or triple science, if GPA is higher than 3.2?
If one takes triple science, one has to choose at least a humanity subject?
Earlier post from another forumer mentioned there is no S'pore & Comparative Studies?
                  I am just confused.
My concern is this subject combination would affect their choice of subjects at A level.

                  Thanks.

Not sure if these students choose olevel, will it suffer same fate? Anyway in ip , consistent performance is still needed to promote next level; by retaining , it affects morale …
