Just yesterday, my Selfish mil called my son and told him that she doesn’t want her mil to go home as she finds her irritating and troublesome. And hopes she stays at my place all the time. You see, my fil passed away a few years ago. Other working hard to keep my bills paid every month, we are also paying for my grand mil’s last hospital bills, and medical bills.

My mil has the time and money to sing karaoke, travel, shopping but expects us to pay for her own mil’s bills and maintenance.

I just no longer have anymore extras, and not work and stay home anymore.

        MizzNAH:

All my three kids were taken care by maid during their growing up years. I feel sad too not having a chance to be a fulltime mother. The hard truth of living in Singapore. However, I am contented they are healthy and happy.
I can empathise with you...as working parents, as much as we want to spend time with our kids, the tiredness and limited time disallow that...especially when we have to work and bring money home...end up, the maid spends more time with the kids than us...sigh

Sharing same fate. Was  .

For those with problem w maid, do your dh side with u or with maid ?
For issues on things lost, clothing, my children's book, missing food.
DH's reasoning is that if he also told the maid off, the maid will quit.
I just need him to support me so that maid will realize that it is an issue.
When DH kept silent, it seem that I am at wrong, picking on maid.
This also one of the reason why we always has maid problem and to maid, I am the evil employer since kind-hearted Sir emphasize with them.

          Don't understand man.
So much empathy for maid welfare but expect the wife to the super woman who help to bring back bacon, children well taken care of, good results, good manners, house clean, etc.
Wife stay up late to do everything is ok but maid must go to bed early.

Just curious if any of you guys send your maids to stay with your extended family members (not staying in the same house) or your agent when you go overseas?

                How is her work performance?

Grouses of getting a new maid:

The agency… before paying deposit everything can ok ok no problem. Transfer maid only need four days. Then after signing. Late transfer, have to do medical, blah blah blah late for a few days.

The maid… during interview everything can. Cook for more than 10 persons every weekend, all by herself. Do marketing independently. 3 days into the job… realized that she only cook for 10 persons once a week plus occasional lunches and dinners (not the family of 5 on a daily basis). And on top of that she has body ordour… and of course… also has facebook!

Less than a week and all the signals buzzing buzzing… how how?

Do you guys pay for the sim card and top up for your helper or your helper pays on her own? My agent told me to ask the helper to pay on her own. Is this the norm?

My husband is also like that, always side the maid, keeping silent or stopping me from scolding her. After a while, I got tired arguing with him over the maid. And of course the maid must be happy the kind-hearted Sir is always protecting her. That's one of the reasons I got rid of my maid who worked for me for only 1 yr 4 mths. Now I am happy without the maid.

Why should employer pay for helper's personal expenses?
