Thanks kspassing. It is very reassuring to hear.Hi everyone! Welcome to the SMPS family! My two DDs are there... But DD1 is graduating this year. DD2 is in p3. We live in far Far East of Singapore, but the mini bus usually comes around 6.10 to pick my girls.
I have been very pleased with the school and teachers, and have no regrets sending them there. What I like best is that they minimize on the unnecessary competition... No level ranking or class ranking in report book. They regularly 'change' the 'top class' around, so while the kids are sort of aware, outsiders would not be able to tell immediately which are the top classes (and it doesn't go in order either, so can be one of the classes 'in the middle' when you arrange them alphabetically).
Enjoy your time at SMPS! I know your girls will!
All the best for DD1 for her PSLE :rahrah: -

Hi hi,
Can I check if anyone knows whether we will be receiving a letter from the school to confirm the Orientation for P1 on 8 Nov?
Thanks. -
Hi! Goldpiggy,
Just the letter we received in August as follows:
\"Your child has been successful in securing a place for Primary One in ST. MARGARET'S PRIMARY SCHOOL at PHASE XX. Please bring your child to school for orientation on 08 November 2013 at 02:00PM.\"
No other confirmation.
Hope it helps. -

I am not too sure. Three of my DD's current K2 classmates are going to SMPS too so am wondering if they will end up being in the same class. Are some of your DD's friends going to SMPS as well?
Looks like quite a few of us staying in the far east

Hi...

You will find out on that day which class your DDs are in... because they will have to sit according to their classes and then they will be brought to their classrooms and introduced to their teachers and they will do a little bit of craft and things to keep them occupied. They will also be given a short snack time and the snacks and drinks stalls will be open, so you can give them some loose change for buying snacks and drinks if you like. There will be \"big sisters\" who will be assigned to look after your girls... My bigger DD has served as big sister for the last three years... haha.
Come prepared to queue to buy books and uniforms. If you can, can get uniform from bibi and baba... then don't have to queue in school. Also queue to register for transport. Bring cheque book... easier to settle all the bills.
I hope your girls have a fabulous time in SMPS... I'm kinda sad that my big girl's time is over there... but my little one will still have three more years. Maybe she will be one of your DD's big sister!

Hi kspassing,
Many thanks for the insights
Sounds fun
So will your DD get assigned to a little one? Will be so interesting for both

Hi goldpiggy,
haha, yes... my younger girl is in P4 next year, and every year the P4s are assigned to buddy the P1s... can't remember if it's for a month or less than that, but it's quite a long time. They will assign the girls by matching class then register number... so for example, the P4Charity girls will take the P1 Charity girls, and Number 1 on the list of both classes will pair up. Lots of fun for both the big sisters and the little ones.
Don't think my big girl will be serving as big sister during the orientation this year... not sure. Not sure if the consent forms have been issued. Likely will do so after the exams... which only end middle of next week.
