Have more confidence in ah boy. In dc's sch, only approx 20% of the cohort are allowed to take HCL. Ah boy must be be 'somebody'!
paiseh paiseh.
He was allowed after appealing. Got a U grade in last year SA2 and this year CA1 and SA1 too. But we work very very hard. Plus his teacher says he has good attitude in class. -

DS missed the min requirements to take HCL in p6 by a borderline with his p5 overall CL results. His teacher oso complained that he did not put in effort. Initially we thought ok, try 1 more term this year. After which, we decided to drop HCL to focus on e 4 core subjects and I handed up the form to drop HCL.
But i was surprised when ds continued to have to attend HCL lessons and eventually the school still registered him for HCL PSLE exam. :? I just let it be an did not pursue the matter w e school.
So ds was jokingly complaining that if he wasn't \"forced\" by the sch to take HCL, he will be freed from his ordeal on tues instead of wed

Compo topics don't seem to be the usual run-of-the-mill type. If the LC and compo for MT are anything to go by, perhaps MT could be a major differentiator in the tscore.

I hope not. :xedfingers: :xedfingers: It's the weakest subject of many local pupils. -
Goes for Tamil too. Although we do use Tamil and English at home. DS answers in English when we question in Tamil. English has become a comfort language. Hmm

Really?
You should still be praised for your resourcefulness and you gave similar tips as the enrichment centre principal.notredame:
Hold your praises first.
I also dunno if this works :xedfingers:
Does this centre has sec 1 classes?
ah boy's present tuition centre did not say anything like this
Yes. They do. In fact, I found the principal very passionate and she was the one who initiated all these briefing... to tell us what the centre has done and how we can help the kids. Well... not many parents attend. But she always make it a point to do it. All these years, she is more on the ball than us....
She also told her teachers for those good phrases, don't let everyone memorise the same thing otherwise it looks like a clear cut \"cut and paste\" job. -

Really? Is it a sap school? Dc's neighbourhood sch's VP said only those who have the potential to score at least a merit in psle HCL will be considered. They do not want to waste resources.
DS sch is different. If I am not wrong, almost 80% are taking HCL.
Pupils with excellent results (> 90%) for the other 3 subjects but achieved a score of < 80% for CL in P4 will not be recommended for HCL in P5. The criteria is > 80% for CL.
However, parents can still appeal if they want their kids to do HCL in P5.
Come P6, it's the perogative of the school to decide if pupils can continue with HCL.
I thought this was the norm. -
My DS Tamil tutor was very productive passionate initiative and doesnβt waste anytime of each of the 2 hr lessons per week. Same tutor I hired 5 yrs agO for my Dd . Mt shot up from C to A. Donβt you all agree there are really inspiring teachers around when u find them itβs like discovering gold.

No worries. I am just directing at one particular user here only. There are many endearing parents of top pupils here like 25hr mama, zeemimi, etc..
Thanks notredame for ur kind words, but my eyes popped out when I see my name appeared here. I really don't remember having posted anything to make anyone feel that my dd falls under the top pupils category. In fact, when I do post anything, I would normally double check, triple check before submitting, to make sure that information shared & words used are appropriate, and sensititive to others feelings.
I think parents of top students are pretty 'switched-off', actually.. They won't waste their time & energy worrying about what you've mentioned..firefly38:
Could it be the reverse: parents of top pupils do not want the average pupils to be near their kids results...you get the impact right?
Waiting to be flamed.... :imdrowning:
As for the top students, i believe they always look at what's in front of them.. They are least bothered by what's behind them..
Moreover, the truth is, I really would not consider my dd in the top pupil category, above average(maybe) at most, definitely not top lah.

Will the Compo Picture be the same for all MT or different for each language.?
