celeste80:
there is no guarantee of anything.Hi
Am new here and currently trying to read up bout the P1 regn process... i am looking at Pei Hwa history and it says APP is 111% under Phase 2C. It is coloured in Green meaning no balloting for <1km> 1km? Does it mean it is 'safe'to buy a unit near there and kind of guarantee entry if its within 1km?
Would appreciate some advice!
the past stats only shows that there is a higher possibility of no balloting < 1km.
see 2007 stats? balloting within 1km. -
ya i saw the balloting for <1km in 2007.. am hoping that wf the drop in birthrate,my gal's chances will b higher if we are within 1km... of cos gota pray for the intake to remain the same! thanks for the reply

Hi Celeste/Jedamum,
2006 registration is hot because of the 'Dragon year (2000)' but surprisingly 2007 registration was also very high
This year's P1 is the the lowest at 39000. 2004 is the year the baby bonus scheme was brought up and I guess there will be an increase in the number of babies up to 2005, although it is yet to be known how much the increase will be.
It's hard to say what the take-up rate will be this year, but I hope your children will get a place in Pei Hwa successfully. All the best

Further to janet_lee88’s response, there may not be as many 2004 babies, note that we have PRs, foreigners which (I think) are not counted; also, I understood that MOE adjusts the intake (ie supply) according to expected demand. Based on hearsay, some schools may be cutting down the number of classes so as to prepare for the shift towards one single session.
All in, there is no guarantee. All the best to parents registering this year (myself included). -
Hi hquek,
If this year’s registration sees an equally low number of children registrating for P1 (as last year), there will not be many P1 classes. It really depends on supply and demand. But I also heard from a friend who is a teacher that schools may be cutting down number of classes to move to single session.
All schools have to move to single session by 2016, and this year is already 2010. Parents who wish to put their children in popular ones will really have to ballot then, esp Phase 2C. -
Hi all, i am new to this and my gal is going to Primary One registration this year and I am a Hokkien Huay Kuan member since Feb 2009. Currently I have sold my place and am finding a new place in Punggol. Anybody can advise how high my chance of getting my daughter into Nan Chiau Pri? Also, where can I find the past few years stats for the balloting results? Thank you very much.

Hi via!
Please click on the link http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/forum/viewtopic.php?t=490for information on balloting history of schools in Seng Kang.
By the way, you haven't reported at the Newbie section yet, right? Can you please report there? It's a SOP in KSP.com.

Thank you so much, QMS.
Another thing, any parents here are Hokkien Huay Kuan members? May I know how long have you been a member and did you manage to get a recommendation from them? I called them and they said that they do not give recommendation to every member, it will depend on the quota given by MOE every year.
Also, how about Rosyth? As my mum is staying within 1km there so I can register there as well. But will only fall below phase 2C.
What happens if my kid failed getting into the school after all the balloting? Thanks in advance. -
Hi via!

If you are going by the caregiver route, you need to make a Statutory Declaration, and your child will fall under the 1-2 km category, even though your mother stays within 1 km from the school.TAlso, how about Rosyth? As my mum is staying within 1km there so I can register there as well. But will only fall below phase 2C.

If your child doesn't get a place in P2C, there is this Phase 2C Supplementary. However, places in the popular schools will have been taken up by P2C, meaning you may not have that many choices in P2CS.What happens if my kid failed getting into the school after all the balloting? Thanks in advance.
Touch wood, if the child still doesn't get a place in P2CS, parents will be requested by MOE to nominate 3 schools (which still have vacancies) for MOE to post their child. If the parents do not nominate 3 schools, MOE will just post the child to the school (with vacancies) nearest to their house, -

What they tell you is true. Some facts:
1. You do NOT need to be a long-time SHHK member (ie. more than a year) before you can be considered to be recommended for an affiliated school;
2. Even if you are a long-time member, your chance of getting recommended for an affiliated school depends on the quota allowed by MOE and the school for Phase 2B, which is different every year. So if there are enough members who are longer serving or higher up the SHHK hierarchy vying for the school, you may not get the recommendation.
In other words, being a member of SHHK will qualify you to be considered for Phase 2B priority in affiliated schools, but there is NO guarantee that you will eventually be given that priority.
