the principal is a 'singing' principal - loves to sing. She actually perform a song written to welcome us to the Southview family. Besides off-key here and there, i tot it was a very great effort by her.
Yes pl...can email me at [email protected]
Much thanks...
Quite impressed with the school achievements. A lot of media coverage was done on their success.
VP sounds strict and firm - which is a good thing (i think)
The school niche is arts (perfoming, visual, media) -
Hi zyberk,
Ya the most impressive part is on their consistent good academic performance though it's a neighbourhood school. Checked their web and realised they change uniforms as well.
Hubby still prefers this school as he is an ex student so in a way we are guaranteed a place there but I prefer an all girls school...sigh really quite torn now. Hmm still hv one more year for me to be on this roller coaster before I need to firm up one. -
Indeed South View is blessed with good principals and vice-principals who are well-liked by the pupils. In fact, the current principal, Mrs Yeo is a very kind and compassionate lady. This year, students in the Foundation programme were given the opportunity to go to Kuching after the PSLE. She has a heart even for students who are less academically inclined.
The school also has good Chinese teachers, two of whom, won the Most Inspiring Chinese Teacher's award. My son has been fortunate to have been taught by both of them.
My son's teacher is very hardworking and prepares the class very well for the PSLE. She is one who understands the needs of the pupils and tries to bring out their potential and strengths. But, the child must be prepared to do lots of homework.
All in all, both my children love the school and I am so thankful for the decision I made years ago.

saw the principal’s photo in the website. Ya, indeed she looks passionate and kind lady. And am suprised it churns out 4 students with more than 278. -
yeah … seems ‘unreal’ … SV sounds &/ looks more like and elite school rather than a neighborhood school …

I'm torn between SV (<1km away) and BPPS (old girl, confirmed a place and no need PV). Have to decide now if I wanna be a PV at SV as P1 reg in 2010. Can you elaborate on the school and its learning environment? Is the school academically stressful? I am comparing these 2 schools and it seems that SV offers more CCAs
which looks more happening.

Hi Pandafam,
My neighbour’s kids and my niece were fr SV and I must say they had a very different experience fr csc.
My niece had a most traumatic time there as she was a victim of bullying by the girls in her class. She was often kicked and subject to ridicule from the class bully who formed an inner clique. I was futher incensed to find vulgarities hurled at her blog by the class bully. We feedback numerous times to her form teacher and nothing much was done wif the teacher consenting that it is a common occurance for girls to gang up together and exhibit such behaviour :x In the end, my sister requested the teachers to put her in another class in P6 even tho her grades were good enuf to be in one of top classes to avoid the class bully. The school is also very focus on academic achievements. My niece was so stressed up by the sheer workload for PSLE ( during the hols, they were made to return everyday to school for a full day session, longer than normal half school) that she became very withdrawn.
My neighbours also commented on the stressful academic environment ( many worksheets daily ) and many other complaints which I will not elaborate… However, perhaps the stressful learning environment does result in some brilliant academic performance from the school.
My niece also scored above 255 for her PSLE…
It is the top school in tat area but I am not sure if they are tops in the holistic development of the child… -

SV's last year (2008) had 3 students with 278 inclusive of the national top PSLE Malay student. All from their best class : 6.12My neighbours also commented on the stressful academic environment ( many worksheets daily ) and many other complaints which I will not elaborate....
