Ytd, I met with a neighbour. She asked me, \"Have u decided which school to transfer your child next year?\" I was like thinking....huh? why transfer again? Then she added on, \"This year GEP mah, you should do something to ENSURE your child got it.\" I was wondering, \"This type of thing can ensure one meh? Gifted is gifted, not gifted is not gifted mah.\" She said, she has already decided, her child will go to NYPS GEP at P4. Her child has just started P1 (in a neighbourhood school).

Just amused. Have a laugh. I thot I am KS enuff, how glad am I to realise that I am not up to tat 'level'......yet.

        IJJ,

Gifted is in-born, either the child is or isn’t.
A friend of mine told me that parents send their kids to some GIFTED program package. OMG, I can’t believe some parents. $3000 for 10 lessons to prepare a child to go into GIFTED PROGRAM.
My son isn’t gifted material. I’m more than relieved and happy if he can produce BAND 1 or high end of Band 2.

Yes, I've seen it too and guess what? It didn't work for some after spending all that $$. Like you say, why force the child to be gifted. It's innate. One child I knew from PHPPS went into gifted last year without having to attend ANYTHING! Also, I knew of two gifted kids ending up not doing very well in the secondary schools because they stopped attending such lessons which are tailored mainly for the Primary levels.. My rule of the thumb: Just be consistent in your learning. 😉

              Hi E3,

If the child isn’t gifted by nature, those lessons wont work. If the child is gifted, he/she doesn’t need those lessons. I have a friend whose daughter went for the gifted test even though she opted her out. Her daughter is still in the same school.

Consistency is crucial now. As long as there is consistency, that memo from school about when CA or SA won’t come as a complete shock to the kids and parents, but just means more intensive revision b4 that.

Hi, anybody from Peace 2? Want to know any feedback about the form teacher.

Anybody feels that the admin staff are not helpful?
My girl in Peace 2. No teachers have given her any email address for parents to communicate with them. I am so disappointed.

I am sorry about your disappointment. Hope the teachers take more initiative. Here's the link to the school website with all the teachers' email addresses.

Email address is available in school web as E3 has provided. On e contrary, I find e admin staff quite helpful. When I need to know anything abt my child, I call e tr or leave a msg with my contact with e admin. Usually tr will call within 1 or 2 days.

                        Hi Donkey,

I find admin staff rather helpful. When I need to take my son home early because of some medical appt, they promptly arrange for someone to bring him down. Or else they will pass on any message I leave for the teacher to call me.
As for the teacher's email, I remember a year (I think P2) when she didn't want to give her email address. But she said to write a note and she will reply.

                        Hi IJJ/E3,
So far I find school admin and teachers responsive to parents' queries. Hope I won't meet with any unpleasant experiences in the next 3 years. 🙏 🙏
