      marmum:

Sidetrack a little, anyone have good recommendations on after school care near the school? Also any good tuition centre or tuitor for Maths, English & Chinese Compo and swimming too?

      Thanks in advance.

      Marchmum
English tuition: I send mine to tll at united sq..very very good, he learnt a lot of good vocabs there, help with compo.
Of course also very ex. For my younger 1, probably cannot afford to send there..might be looking at learning pt at thomson plaza(saw many many pc kids there) as she is taking dance class there.

Chinese tuition: May I ask if school material sufficient? Mine (P2) dun have tuition yet..i’m trying to cover this by myself..but I find it so hard to teach him systematically to write good phrases for compo..any parents at p3 can feedback if teaching material is sufficient especially they start to have extra lesson after school.

I hope they do teach well.

The school’s materials for Chinese compo are very good. Prepared and published by their own teachers. It’s a step-by-step program from P3 to P6. I feel that there is no need to have tuition for Chinese compo.

Ttsh, I suppose you are referring to 2012 p2’s MA papers. Usually, the school will give them out as practice papers (mock tests) before the actual MA tests. There’s no need to search them out.

Dear mummies, may I know what’s the maths olympiah programme about? How are the children selected? If they are selected in the programme, what’s the requirements at the end of each term i.e. competitions and tests? will this help in admission to sec schs etc? thanks in advance.

For maths Olympiad, it’s voluntarily and you need to pay for the course. As for competition, my boy did not participate any. If I m not wrong, u can participate on yr own. And I do not tink there’s any benefits to enter sec sch. But if you do win in any competition, you could get it recorded in their report book. I let me boy take maths Olympiad is because he is gd in matha n had great interest. N I felt that it did help him in his academic maths, makes him understand and do qn faster. He scored mostly 95 or above and this ca2 a perfect 100.
