I think independent schools have smaller class size. Their school fees are around $3××. Whereas CHS is a Autonomous school & we only pay $3X or maybe due to dragon year.
Wah, CHS IP classes soooo huge? 30?! Other schools only like max 25.Dreamgear:
This year class size for ip range from 30 to 35. I have asked the head of ip about this and he advised that as they cannot get enough qualified teachers, they decided to expands the class instead. So there could be changes this year as both scgs and sngs are about 25 in each class. -

I remember taking a copy of he & his bro in CHS MOE Fee Statements, the fees both S$20+, but CHS a few dollars more. Govt school still cheapest.

Just imagine without scholarship, the fees are around $300 x 12mths x 6 years for independent ip schools compared to gov or gov aided schools n also lead to same alevel… Is it worth the investment or roi? For me I prefer the obvious …

Hey Everyone
I haven't been posting on KSP for quite some time now due to the hectic schedule. EOYs have passed so I'm able to free up some time to visit KSP.
I was just wondering on which courses to take for Sec 2 Streaming, can anyone give me advice?

can i get some feedback on the teachers in secondary school? are they nurturing type or result-oriented? my ds doesn't like the teachers in chs pri as they are mostly result-oriented. his fav teachers are those fr p1 n p2.
Depends on which teacher you are talking about. Some are really nice and the nurturing type while some are very strict and result-oriented.
It all comes down to luck (sorta). I have a mix of both kinds of teachers teaching me different subjects.Dreamgear:
I would agree the newer teachers are more of the nurturing type. But they can teach quite well as well, 一點都不輸給 the other senior teachers - and they know when is the time to be nice and when is the time to be strict
My ds in the ip portion... All very young and not at all result-oriented. In fact the academic environment is quite laid back.... Different story when it comes to cca... Very on-the-ball and result-focused....sparks:

I can't really say its a laid back academic environment though. While its true that many people still play football during exam period - you should see how some of them go to libraries in groups after school, those who wake up in the middle of the night at 4 AM just to study for the paper coming up 4 hours later, and those who have these A4 sized notebooks with every inch of space used to write something
I don't do any of the above mentioned but its still very tiring. Almost every subject has a project for you and you have to complete it by the deadline or face screwing up that particular subject. And if your DS fail one subject, likely chance of the subject teacher ringing you up is 75% -

Scholarship is on a yearly renewal basis, subject to good results. Scholars are expected to maintin their good performance inorder to continue to receive the scholarships. -

And you have not included the monthly miscellaneous fees which could range between $45 to $80 for O lvls & IP, resp. (Different schools have different fees though). For the 5th & 6th year (A lvls/IB), monthly fees are around $500. Morever, they are not fixed rates & will probably inflate over the years.
However, there is a MOE financial assistance scheme for a range of monthly gross household income, (but only) up to $7200.
