thing is cannot leave him alone afraid he might burn down my house with his impromptu cooking of eggs.

If you make it a rule that he does not cook without an adult in the house, will he disobey?

he will is cause he will that have all this restriction and cause i am the one to decided to reduce his medication i have to suck thumb and :frustrated: deal with it

I honestly think it's ok to do some work. Think the child would know for himself/herself when to stop. If it's done out of interest, why stop? Mmm... Don't šŸ˜† at me hoh. But that's what I used to do in my school holidays. I'd take an older sibling textbook, self-studied then did the sums in the text. Assessment books were not in vogue then. I did play, watch lots of cartoon, do crafts, play badminton and music etc. It was all self-directed and my parents didn't tell me to do any work. Neither did they stop me.

True that times have changed. I encourage my children to read widely too. However if they pick up a text and start working on it, I'd be very happy to leave them alone. Just me...
I was just comparing notes with my husband, and we realised that we were fairly opposite in what we used to do with new schoolbooks. He would read all the Maths and some science, while I would read the Lit/Hist/Geog/English. My Maths and Science books would be pristine and untouched on the first day of school! Yes, I agree it's a matter of degree, although I would be concerned if my kids didn't do a lot more of fun stuff than just prepare for the new school year. My main concern would be if my kids were the type to cause disruptions due to boredom during classes, or switch off because they thought they already knew it all and miss some of the teacher's tips. If they aren't that kind, then I suppose it would be OK.

Oh, now I remember you mentioned about his medication, ritalin. I am so sorry to learn that. Press on, mummy OnABudget! It's really not easy for you. Jiayou! \"Fighting!\" (k-drama version)

Dd received the Sec Sch Selection booklet today. FYI.

BeContented, is the booklet the same as in this link?

DS has not received any booklet yet so we are wondering whether it is the same one.

                      i need help... :?:

dd has been doing nothing at home.. and has been \"torturing\" me what she can do during the day time. the prob is, i'm a FTWM.. and this is a busy period for me to go on leave. :stupid: so besides asking her to help out on some simple hse chores and guiding her sis work, i can't think of what to allocate for her to use time wisely. :scratchhead:
she has requested to go out with friends, but i only allowed once..

is there any suggestions i can have on any short classes or activities to keep her occupied? she's not a computer-addict.. but rather a handphone addict. šŸ˜“

plan out year end activities, put up presentation on what, where, why on what to do? Research on certain non academic topics, newspaper articles reading and understanding more....
