      E3,

You have 3 gals. Wow, you are amazing to bring the kids along to buy books.

I read somewhere that the Stellar program will be extended to P6. Anyway, the present textbook is not helpful. When mothers get together, the conversation will be on kids, education etc. Hubby & I had a conversation with a friend yesterday about our kids too. Our children are in P4 (same school) and former classmates at the kindergarten.

Janet, it's IJJ who is the garang one. I had my books delivered to my home this year. Maybe as you mentioned, Stellar may stay for a while more, not too sure about other subjects though. It used to be changing syllabus every four years. Most likely, my younger two can share the textbooks.

I still feel that textbook serves as a guide of what we as parents should follow up at home.

My P3 boy brou back two Sc worksheets on Fri. Asked him which page of the Sc textbook has the teacher covered up to. He said dunno cos the teacher does not refer to the textbook to teach sometimes.

Worse still, this teacher who is taking on EL and MA does not teach according to the timetable. How am I supposed to follow up at home? If I teach too much, I am afraid my boy will lose concentration in class. Plus I must take time to teach too, either ignore housework or ignore some other subjects or take away play time. If only I know how much to cover per week, it will make my planning easier.

I also find that the CL teacher is teaching very slowly. Almost like 1 unit per week. In the past, the CL teachers covered at least 1.5 unit each week, so to be able to finish teaching the textbook before the SA1. Now I really wonder how she is going to finish before SA1.

Actually, I bgt most books in popular with hubby. Those tat I bgt in school are the exclusive ones, not the whole load.

My child's FT, who teaches EL, Maths and Sci, does not use texts for all 3. I see that all these texts are left at home, but her Maths & Science are following quite closely accoding to the text syallabus. Till today, I see no worksheet for EL as yet, which I think its pretty common as in stellar programmes.

              E3,

              Oops, wrong person 😛 Sorry.
I'm very KS...once my boy receives the booklist, I will tick what I need and fax over to HQ asap to arrange collection at the earliest date. Still, I will be told that there is NO STOCK for certain books because parents are buying extra copies for books like 'My Pals are Here, Maths Homework Book'.

              IJJ,
I bought all the books from the school bookshop bcos it's troublesome to go Popular and back again, since there are uniforms and files to get.
My son came back with English worksheets because the textbook doesn't cover 'Synthesis and Transformation'. Usually I will photocopy an extra copy to keep for my younger daughter as practice.
Eng is the only subject so far that there are supplementary worksheets. Actually this has been the case since P2.

I meant I din see it as they have to do them in class, not as hmwk, therefore I din get to read any. CL also has supp papers. P4 uses EL texts? Which publisher, may I ask?

                  IJJ,

Pei Hwa using My Pals Are Here for English. I think it’s Marshall Cavendish…same publisher for Maths too.

                      IJJ,

                      You are welcome 😄

Actually my son has quite a bit of worksheets for English because the textbook is not comprehensive. I remind my son not to write anything on the worksheets before I photocopy a copy first. That includes the past year exam papers if possible.

                        Hi Mummies,

My son is in P4 this year. I feel the heat since the 2nd week of school. Firstly his school homework has increased, teachers have informed kids about the chapters which will be tested for CA1.
I didn't take a complete break during the Nov/Dec hols, but prepared some Science notes and other stuff. Unfortunately, the feeling when school reopened still hit me hard. I feel like I've got to reach 4th gear before CNY. Usually teachers go full speed after CNY. 😢
