But I strongly think 4 cannot be the answer.....as in question....BOTH flowering plants and most animals....in flowers, the male reproductive cells are not called sperms...so option A is ruled out...
So the option should be either 2 or 3....

So the option should be either 2 or 3....
Actually, the male reproductive cells are called sperms in plants as well. The pollen grain is quite complicated - it usually contains ordinary cells and gametes (the reproductive cells also known as sperm cells).

See here for more detail:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pollen
\"Pollen is a fine to coarse powder containing the microgametophytes of seed plants, which produce the male gametes (sperm cells). Pollen grains have a hard coat that protects the sperm cells during the process of their movement from the stamens to the pistil of flowering plants or from the male cone to the female cone of coniferous plants. When pollen lands on a compatible pistil or female cone (i.e., when pollination has occurred), it germinates and produces a pollen tube that transfers the sperm to the ovule (or female gametophyte).\"

I’ve never come across plant reproductive cells being referred to as ‘sperm’ in pri school text.

3. Why are most stomata found on the underside of the leaves of plants?

it is to avoid the heat from direct sunlight which helps the plant reduce water loss due to evaporation.
Thanks! :thankyou:

1. Why is it important for capillaries to have walls of only one-cell thick?

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
2. Plants carry out respiration all the time. They carry out photosynthesis only during the day. Why are they still able to replenish oxygen in the air?
Pls help!

So the option should be either 2 or 3....
I think the answer is (2) as fish has external fertilization.

As stated by Nebbermind , pollen were taught as male reproductive cell (sperm counterpart of animal) and not as sperm.
IMHO, (4) may would not be the correct answer even if (A) is correct as © is a wrong statement.
