As stated by Nebbermind , pollen were taught as male reproductive cell (sperm counterpart of animal) and not as sperm.
IMHO, (4) may would not be the correct answer even if (A) is correct as is a wrong statement.

Because it allows gaseous exchange to take place and with thinner walls the diffusion of gases will be faster.
