everyone now stressing over P5 SA2 ... so i ask something less stressful ... does anyone know what is the timeline like for PSLE? complete newbie here. first PSLE. if one of the more experienced can assist to list out like what month need to do what, that would be most helpful.
most important, if wanna go holidays after PSLE, when is a good time to go?

I understand psle will end a day or 2 b4 Children's Day.everyone now stressing over P5 SA2 ... so i ask something less stressful ... does anyone know what is the timeline like for PSLE? complete newbie here. first PSLE. if one of the more experienced can assist to list out like what month need to do what, that would be most helpful.

For holiday, best time to me is to go immediately after psle, especially if you plan to go on a long trip of at least 2 weeks. There's (almost) no other opportunity to travel off-peak for such a period of time, to take advantage of cheaper airfare n accommodation. Alternatively is to go after u hv made your secondary school selection, but that will be peak season again. JMHO -
Wah… everyone so stress… sigh its going to be our first psle too. SA2 havent finish kiasu mum here already worried about psle. my dd’s grades dropped a lot this year especially chinese (shdnt have took hcl, seems like it is more stressful), my hubby and I super worried about p6. Any good tutor to recommend?? I know its a bit early but guess all mummies and daddies can relate their stress to mine.

My DD's Chinese grade had also dropped a lot and seems it's difficult to come up... :nailbite:
It's not too early to start.. in fact I would think it's late.... cos language requires some time and effort to move up and takes no effort at all to drop!!!! :imdrowning: -
thanks bebebub for the reply. will need to work out the dates as i will have another child in P1 in 2014. hoping to travel together.

based on past years' pattern, PSLE results should be on 20 Nov 2014.
If your child is allocated to the CO of her choice, then do not need to go through the S1 posting... meaning from 21 Nov 2014 can start your holiday.
Many schools will have open house on 22 Nov 2014.
Selection of school within 1 week... by 28 Nov 2014 most prob. :boogie:
Results of school posting should either be 19 or 22 Dec 2014 and Registration at school should be about 23 Dec 2014 (parents and child need to be there... books/uniform purchase... Briefing etc).
So... safe to plan your hols between 29 Nov to 18 or 19 Dev 2014... or even 21 Dec.
for myself... I am targetting hols btw 1-14Dec 2014... anytime within that... but knowing that I will need my annual leave for :rahrah: \"陪公主读书\" :nunchuk: ... I will only be able to go for short trips...
Results of posting will be by sms... so you will be able to know the school even if you are overseas... provided the location can receive sms ie... you're not in the mountains...

33mama:
I am a mother of 3 children. The first one already entered his secondary school phrase, the second just finish her psle, the third taking his next year :frustrated: Tiring :faint: my first two's chinese havent been up to standard especially my first ds. His chinese standard is near failing when he was P6. Still remember that year searching for tutor high and low :?: but finally came across one of the better ones. After trying for a mth, I immediately :siam: from the chinese tuition centre and put all my hope on the tutor. (Like I taking psle instead of my child) She is quite experienced and very understandable. My second and third are still having her as their chinese tutor. My first got his psle result that year and recieved an A for chinese. Miracle really happened thankfully. My dd's prelim got an A* for chinese and Merit for HCL. Kiasu mum here is hoping for A* and distinction when the psle results are out. You can pm me for her contacts and more information. Good tutors must be known, experienced mum here knows the anxiety every parent is going through now.HappieNewbie123:

Mommybel:
That's why I don't coach my dd at all. Also can't coach laSure ruin our relationshipsleepy:
I know my relationship with my girl will go from bad to worst as I \"coach\" her to prepare for Pri6 after SA2. She keeps telling me \"Mummy, plenty of time....chill....\"
I am so freaking out :scared:
Any comment from me she will take it very personally and start crying and say I'm not encouraging. Super sensitive but ONLY towards me :frustrated:
My job is to nag her to speed up because she tends to procrastinate a lot. And that's already putting a strain on our relationship. Can't do more than that
You are not alone. I think most mothers will experience that
How not to coach them?! Cant depend on school and tuition (only 2h per subject per week)!
After last wk PSLE marking week or rather her study week, DD1 told me she has a new phobia ...called \"mama phobia\" :stompfeet:
So we have agreed to let her take a break for TWO days this wkend
This Nov-Dec - we will stay focus...we plan to work on her compositions/spelling. Usually for compositions tests, we often find ourselves busy that wk or no time to give her guidelines on her compo. -
33mama:
whoa - thank you so much for all the details. much appreciated. 01-14 Dec 2014 looks great. looking forward to spending times together. its going to be a very tough ride till then!thankgod:
