Hi,


I am looking at my son’s results and I just couldn’t figure out how to interpret them. They have results for Term 1, Mid-Year Overall, Term 3 and End of Year Overall.

Questions: Is End of Year Overall meant to indicate for the whole year or it’s for Term 3 and I suppose, term 4 as well although it was not shown at all?

If EOY Overall is not the indicative marks for the whole year, how do I compute the overall marks for the whole year?

As there are more than 4 subjects involved, is the GPA still at 4 or higher? How can I compute this?

If you are coming out of RVHS into Boon Lay Drive and plan to keep to the right lane to turn into Boon Lay Ave, please do not block the exit when the right lane of Boon Lay Drive is congested. If not, you will be blocking the traffic flow in RV. :slapshead: My suggestion is to turn out and head straight toward those HDB blocks and make a turn out from the HDB roads after passing the junction.

Good evening,
Are you referring to the results obtained from the rvhs Ntrix system?
If yes, the the End Of Year overall refers to the your child's result for this year in total. Term 1 weighs 10%, term 2&3 25% each and term 4 (EOYs) 40%. The end of year overall refers to 100%, which means the total calculated from all 4 terms.
GPA is calculated by taking the total of your GPA for 6 subjects and diving by 6.
A1: GPA 4.0
A2: 3.5
B3: 3.0
B4: 2.5
C5: 2.0
C6: 1.5
D7: 1.0
E8: 0.5
F9: 0.0
So for instance, if a student has a total of 1A1, 3A2s, 1B4 and 1 C5, his GPA would be: (1x4) + (3x3.5) + (1x2.5) + (1x2.0) divided by 6= 3.2 (1dp).

Just a clarification to the reply above, the 10 25 25 40 weightage only applies to all subjects excluding math and science. For math and science, they are given a 20 20 20 40 weightage.


For GPA, RV has one more grade, A1* (GPA5.0) and its requirement is 85 marks. For example, if your child scores 90 in math, he gets a A1* for math and the GPA for math alone is 5.0.

As far as I’ve seen, the GPA reflected on the progress report is out of 5 but is capped at 4, so if someone gets GPA4.3 with A1*s, it should be reflected as ‘4.0’ on the progress report.

GPA the higher the better results.

I know the RV’s system is by retaining weaker students in yr5 or y6 rather than set up a O level class or ask to go to polytechnic.


I know one student whose result improve significantly from almost all subjects fail to a few As. That is quite worth it, better than a neither nor there A level results that don’t land you a uni course of your choice.

O level classes might be implemented in the near future, but will not affect students that are already in RV currently. (Unconfirmed)
