Hi,
I figured out that we don’t have any primary school within 2 km from our house. We would like to send our child to the closest school, but that’s a rather popular one for which I won’t get a seat under 2C or even 2B with distance of more than 2km.
Would anybody know whether there is an MOE policy related to sending your child to the nearest primary school, even though is more than 2 km?
Thanks a lot! -

What type of policy do you have in mind? :scratchhead:Hi,

What about your old school? -
Hi qms,
Thanks for coming back to me!
I didn’t visit a school in Singapore, as I am foreigner. My wife is Singaporean (so are our children), but unfortunately her former primary school is far far away from our home.
What I meant is a policy that would give children priority for the closest school to their home, regardless of the distance. That’s exactly the case for us. Have checked on "One Map", but there is really no Primary School within 2km radius to our home(seems a very unique situation). Closest school (around 2.2.km) is Fairfield Methodist, but this one is popular and even under 2B (if accepted as a volunteer) we may not get a seat because of the more than 2km distance.
Hence I thought if distance generally plays a role for seat allocation in primary school, then there should also be a policy related to our case, but I couldn’t find anything on it. Do you have an idea?
Thanks a lot! -

If you are going by the caregiver route, your girl will still be in the 1-2 km category even if the caregiver lives right next to the school. You can only be considered under 1 km if you are genuinely staying with your aunt and that both you and your spouse's NRICs reflect your aunt's address. -

hi, I heard that we must show the original sale and purchase agreement to prove the new address. Is it true? I tot the original copy is always with the law firm. How to get the original copy then?
