No leh i went to the open house last year.. They are very vocal... In fact a lot of ministers comes from NJC.... If not vocal how to be politician?
NJC's students are generally not too vocal in opinion.Jennifer:
No doubt my elder boy is in NJC, I hv no idea about the what u posted. All I know is my child is happy in the school. -

HCI students seem to look at poly as an escape route. If you see the cut off points at the popular poly courses, i dont think the chances to get into the popular courses are very high esp, going purely base on results...
looking4Tutor:
Is that only about 10% of the S1 intake?
For this year yes. But it varies from year to year. If HCI is to push the standard higher, which is a wrong games plan, you will see more Straight Into Poly classes.
You mean there are Straight Into Poly classes?! Sounds disturbing...A batch of highly intelligent 12yos with good PSLE scores now face the imminent fate of joining other Express and Normal kids in a poly? I'm not saying polys are no good, but conventionally, those that did well are expected to get into unis, yah?
I shudder to read stuffs like that. It's like playing \"Snakes and Ladders\" game. I accelerated from the start point to the high point cos I had a good headstart, but due to various circumstances midway, I slide down the snake to be at the same start point as the others who had a less advantageous headstart. -

:? sweeping statement ?
i feel WeiHan rather biased against NJC students.

Of course, I don't refer to the past. I am refering to students in recent years.

Do they win any debates competition?
Do they win many PSC scholarships? (which usually requires leadership quality and perform well during interviews which almost equate to expressing your view efficiently).
They don't perform well in any competitions that require presentation skills.
Are there outstanding leaders in recent years? -
zeemimi:
How else do you explain that students were asked to leave the school but kept quiet but in another school, they voice their displeasure?

If most of these kids are struggling due to poor command of English, which very often affect the other subjects, then it may be a better route for them.looking4Tutor:

NJC stresses they provide support programmes for the not-doing well students. Only a handful of students still could not make it n had to leave the programme.
If I am unable to catch up despite putting in efforts, why be stubborn n not go look for sth else that suits me better?
If I am unable to catch up becos I am too playful, why do I still hv the guts to stay on? I would also leave quietly.
Those now voicing their displeasure at HCI have their own valid reasons in doing so. Not simply becos they r more vocal than other schools' students. -

I know of 1 person who did well in A level enough to be offered a place in NTU. but the person opted for poly instead because there is a course in the poly which the person likes and the course is not available in NTU. -

I haven't seen any \"valid reasons\". Maybe you can share what you know?
