Hi uicbg,Hi,
The information was attached in the Primary One Orientation letter whereby they mentioned : In promoting Programemes for Active Learning (PAL) for Primary 1 and Primary 2 pupils, all P1 pupils will have a long day on Thursday (from 0730 to 1550) in Term 3 and Term 4 (Week 1 to 4).
Any idea what is PAL?
Thanks to parents highlighting the Meet the Parents Session on 23rd Jan for the Primary One as I have overlooked it.
Just attended the session.
PAL is something like a built-in CCA for P1 & P2. It runs 6 weeks per term. I think it is to expose the students and for the school to identify potential candidates for their performing arts, sports and astethics.
For P2 kids, they will stay back on Thurs till 3.50 pm starting Term 2.
P1s will probably have their own timings, not sure about it. You'll need to ask around. -
Hi Keroppi, you attended the P2 MTP’s session? I have a girl in Pri 2 but missed the MTP last Sat due to some family matters. Do you mind sharing with me what are the more important points that they brought up during the session? Thanks so much in advance!

Hi there, relaxed mum,
Here’s a summary of the P2 level briefing:
The slides for the Meet-the-Parents session can be found in the FMS Pri website.
For P2s, there will only be 1 SA2 exam in Term 4, which constitues 40% of the year’s total score. Alternative assessments (topical tests) will replace CA1/SA1/CA2. Dates for these formative assessments will not be revealed to parents but they will be done after certain topics are covered. They will also be tested only what they have been taught. The break down is as follows (it’s 20% for Term 1-3):
English
Term 1
1. Spelling and Vocabulary (10%)
2. Listening Comprehension (10%)
Term 2
1. Group Stories (10%)
2. Choral Reading - Process (10%)
Term 3
1. Individual Writing (10%)
2. Choral Reading - Presentation (10%)
Term 4 - SA2 paper (40%) (grammar/vocabulary MCQ and cloze, sentence synthesis, comprehension MCQ and open-ended etc.)
Mathematics
Terms 1 to 3: Topical Reviews (10%) and Performance Tasks (10%) each term
Term 4: SA2 paper (40%)
Programme for Active Learning (PAL):
Term 2 1st 6 Thursdays - Handchimes
Term 3 1st 3 Thursdays - Volleyball
Term 3 next 3 Thursdays - Badminton
On these Thursdays, the curriculum time is extended till 3.50 p.m.
For MT, there was some clarification on how the students are grouped into HMT, E (Enrichment), C (Core), B (Bridging), the objectives and what they focus on in these classes.
CCA selection for P3 will commence in Term 3 of the year. Think there will be try outs for the students too. Selection is done online - more details will be given later.
Lastly, Parent Volunteers can sign for events that they may want to help up in - we were given a form each to fill. If you want, you can get a copy from your FT or the general office to volunteer your services. -
Hi Keroppi, I was at the Meet the Parent session and remember the principal shared the breakdown for the Pri 1 assessment based on the T1,T2, T3 & T4 but no SA1 & no SA2.
I thought the slides would be available in the FMSP web link but it is not found available there.
Would you have the break down for the Pri 1 detail as well? Tought this is useful to serve as a reference for understanding how our kid is being assessed.
Thank you. -

The P1 slides are in the FMSP website now. The breakdown and other information are in there.
Here's the link:

Hi Keroppi, the link does not show the breakdown of the Pri 1 assessment… like the one the principal shows about the English (Grammer - 10% T2 etc…)
The FMSP website link shows Pri 1 - PAL & CCA and the Chinese Bridging, core and standard module course.
Thank you. -
Oh I am sorry, ubicg, I didn’t know the slides do not carry the information.
Maybe some other P1 mums here who attended the P1 level briefing can share that information with you.
