Could you describe more on the speech and drama programme at Act3? Thanks.

I noticed that you were asking about Act 3, I am not with Act 3, I am an educator with The Alternative Story but I do know of children who have benefitted from them and would like to share their experience with you.

The children can sit with their family members when the act is carried out, so if they are rather shy and retiring, they would not feel intimidated and the acting is spontaneous. So for example, during the act, the actors would come over and invite your child to join. I think the children have a lot of fun in a non-intimidating setting.

I have just registered my boy to Act3. Very excited to see what's going in there. I am very sure my boy loves it too! Coz he is very drama at home. :siao:

Hi. I sent my kids to a couple of workshops by Act3. The pro's of Act 3:


1. Teachers are lively, patient.... but I guess that's what dramatists have to be right... otherwise they'd be quite failures

2. Nice waiting room for parents

3. A variety of short-term commitment programmes to choose from e.g. holiday prog (5 mornings) , Sundays with us (just a sunday morning session that you can do to have a sample)

Cons:

1. Parking is a nightmare

2. Acoustics of the place make all our voices \"echo-ey\" so even adults have a problem hearing each other talk so I thought this was critical for the kids. My kids are young 2+ and 4+ so I felt this was a major issue though others may beg to differ.

In the end, I signed up at Centre Stage School of the Arts. The teacher Glyn is fantastic. He's funny, engaging and very encouraging.

Only thing is that it's very expat inclined, so prices is on the high side $35 per lesson and be prepared to be surrounded by air-kissing muah-muah expat wives :roll:

thanks for the feedback. heard good things abt act 3 too. just signed up for jg so wil see how things go difference is jg includes phonics and pre-reading and pre-writing exercises. where is centre stage school of the arts?

Centre stage is at woking road off portsdown road. Can check out their site http://www.centre-stage.com . JG is not cheap either hor.... from what I remember of their playclub, it was like $50/lesson!


JG is very very crowded on weekends, be it at Forum or Evans Rd. I cannot take jostling with the little ones, the prams, the parents and the maids.... makes me very irritated. So after one trial there, I gave up.

ooh, portsdown? that’s far for me. actually i find jg is ok on weekends. used to be worse when we go there on weekdays, maybe becos weekdays includes all the kindy kids. so far the class is ok - dd enjoys it. but of course at a pretty hefty price. wil observe for a while n see whether its worth its while…

Hi foreverj, did you sign up for the Edurama programme in JG? Was it the 60 min or 90 min? They told me that the 90 min has some writing exercise, just wondering what is it?
I am trying to decide between JG and LW for my 5 yr old boy.

for the 90 min, the children will write a few sentences on the activities \ drama \ book that they did for that day. The teacher will provide some helping words on the whyteboard.
