Apple event - 22/10/13 - iPad

There is a rumor in the internet that Apple will be launching the new iPad (finally) on 22/10/13, together with the new Mac Pro and OS X Mavericks.


The rumor is said to be from a very creditable source that had in the past accurately leaked such information way ahead of official announcement.

We should know whether it turns out to be true or just rumor as Apple should be sending out invitation soon.

From past experience, what will happen to current range of products when new versions are launched?

DW has been pestering me to get an iPad Mini, first suggesting we redeem it from bank reward points (but I procrastinated till no more liao...), then now changing target to buying an iPad recently.

If got new iPad, will it be same price, and will the previous range's price be reduced significantly?

I did some research on the Internet. Most comments were that Maverick slows down the Mac. I will delay the upgrade for 2 to 3 months and monitor the feedback on internet before I upgrade.

I guess a lot also depends on which Mac you are running. Generally, the older the system, the slower it gets when running the latest OS due to the older system's limitation in RAM and processor speed. However, if you run Mountain Lion without a hitch, Mavericks should run just fine.

FYI, I'm running Mavericks on my MacBook Pro 15\" (Late 2011) and MacBook (2010 White Unibody) for the past 2 days - no slow down experienced when compared to running Mountain Lion.

Mavericks also enabled updated versions of iWork, iLife, Aperture and many others third party applications. Speed wise, only Aperture feels speedier under Mavericks when the others run at more or less the same speed.
