P6s in DS school stay in class or comp lab to play anything they like or work on graduation performance item. No work but class still gets scolded by teacher as before because of the performance item prep..

Was at the neighbourhood hairdresser ytd to do rebonding.


The hairdresser has a son who is P5 this year, same sch as my ah boy. Throughout the whole session, the boy was seen to be going out to the neighbouring shops (run by extended family members) and playing with the little cousins although he was supposed to be doing assessment exercises.

The mum had earlier instructed the son to do an assessment books titled IQ Maths. When asked how was the progress, the boy told the mother: these qns are not possible for human beings.

So the mother said: if you dunno how, then go upstairs to get 1 to 1 tutor session.

The boy was very upset: b4 sch exam must go tuition, after sch exam also must go tuition. Holidays also cannot play.

Qn: what is your child’s definition of PLAY?

Ah boy does not agree to the following being PLAY:
1. watch TV program
2. read a story book
3. doing his handicrafts
4. going shopping
5. outdoor cycling

PLAY must be:
1. indoor - 2 or more persons board games

3. outdoor ball games

PLAY must be:
1. indoor - 2 or more persons board games
2. indoor - play computer games
3. outdoor ball games

We would define all the examples as 'play', although, as the kids get older, we stopped using 'play' and called it 'leisure' which encompasses more. But it seems your son is very social - his definition of 'play' involves other 'people' (including the opposition in a computer game?).

everything that you've listed above will be considered PLAY by dd. include, knitting, (her current project is a small pouch), serving someone food on her ipad cafe and feeding imaginary pets. oh, and bursting bubbles. she doesn't like to blow them.

i think most important for her is that she gets to do whatever she wants whenever she wants. her ME time.

It sounds so interesting :please: DS has 1 learning journey and 2 CIP so far but still have Art and CME classes. The rest of the time is spent in the classroom to do whatever the children like. Sports events is a very good idea :salute:

it was so much fun, according to dd. today's events will be captain ball and frisbee. they'd be playing against the teachers. it was so easy to wake her up in the morning. i'd just whisper \"u may stay at home if u want to. no need to wake up...\" next moment, she'd outta her bed.

i must credit the PE department in their school for taking the effort to organise this. :salute:

My dd has done 1 CIP at the beach and outing to Haw Par Villa. Today, they are going to RWS sea aquarium. The school also organised financial literacy talks and she also learnt how to make muah chee.... for the rest of the time, they are preparing for their jumble sale in Nov... So there don't seem to be a boring moment so far.

dd and her classmates also started going out for shopping trips. Something they never do together previously. Just last week, they went shopping after school and they only ended around 7plus. Well... time for her to enjoy before next year and also it's a great time for her to spend it with her friends since they will be going to different schools next year.

Personally, just 2 more days to the last SA2 papers for my P2 and P5 and I am starting to feel happier.... Will enjoy the 6 weeks break. Hoping to end the year happy as I wonder how I will feel when I start to see my P5's results.... :xedfingers: stressed the moment I think of that. :nailbite: Hopefully it is not a :mad: :rant: :nunchuk: :spank: moment. But this has been a long year of non stop exams preparation.
